A FastAPI job typically involves developing, maintaining, and optimizing web applications and APIs using the FastAPI framework. FastAPI is a modern, high-performance web framework for Python that is designed for building APIs quickly with automatic OpenAPI generation. Professionals in this role are expected to have experience with Python, asynchronous programming, and API development, often working with databases, authentication, and cloud services.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a FastAPI developer?

As a FastAPI Developer, your daily tasks typically include designing and implementing RESTful APIs, writing efficient and maintainable code, and performing thorough testing to ensure reliability and performance. Job description

Software Engineering Intern (Part-Time Co-op) — Dimenso AI

Location: Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA — [on-site / hybrid]

Term: Fall 2026, part-time — 20 hours/week

Eligibility: Open to international students who are CPT-eligible.

Dimenso AI is an AI startup building lab-automation software for biopharma companies in the US and Europe. You'd work across our full stack — a React/TypeScript web and desktop app, a FastAPI/Postgres backend, and an AI pipeline built on the Anthropic, OpenAI, and Gemini APIs — shipping real features to production users.

Required

  • JavaScript/TypeScript and React
  • Python, with some exposure to FastAPI
  • SQL and relational data modeling (we use Postgres)
  • Comfort working in a large existing codebase with Git and pull requests

Nice to have

  • Building with LLM APIs directly — the Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini SDKs
  • Agent and tool-calling work: function/tool definitions, orchestrating multi-step AI workflows
  • Experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor
  • AWS (S3, ECR, Elastic Beanstalk) and Docker
  • Embedded or wearable development. We build on Mentra Live smart glasses, so any experience with BLE communication, Android-based on-device software, or native bridge layers (we use Rust) is a real plus.

Juniors, seniors, and recent graduates preferred.
