Job description

Who We Are:
SiriusXM and its brands (Pandora, SiriusXM Media, AdsWizz, Simplecast, and SiriusXM Connect) are leading a new era of audio entertainment and services by delivering the most compelling subscription and ad-supported audio entertainment experience for listeners -- in the car, at home, and anywhere on the go with connected devices. Our vision is to shape the future of audio, where everyone can be effortlessly connected to the voices, stories and music they love wherever they are.
This is the place where a diverse group of emerging talent and legends alike come to share authentic and purposeful songs, stories, sounds and insights through some of the best programming and technology in the world. Our critically acclaimed, industry-leading audio entertainment encompasses music, sports, comedy, news, talk, live events, and podcasting. No matter their individual role, each of our employees plays a vital part in bringing SiriusXM's vision to life every day.
SiriusXM Media is the gateway for marketers to the largest digital audio advertising ecosystem in North America. As the combined advertising revenue organization of Sirius XM Holdings Inc., SiriusXM Media spans across leading owned and operated audio platforms Pandora and SiriusXM; innovative ad tech solutions powered by AdsWizz; sonic creative consultancy Studio Resonate; and an extended content network featuring exclusive monetization agreements with Audiochuck, NBCUniversal, SoundCloud, and many more. Reaching more than 150 million listeners each month, SiriusXM Media delivers audiences the tailored brand experiences they crave while putting creators first, making it easy for every marketer to produce, plan, buy and measure across its entire audio universe.
AdsWizz, a subsidiary of SiriusXM, is the leading global provider of digital audio and podcast advertising solutions. AdsWizz is the underlying monetization solution for well-known music platforms, podcasts, and broadcasting groups worldwide, giving advertisers or all sizes unprecedented access to premium and niche audio content. Through dynamic ad insertion, advanced programmatic platforms, and innovative audio formats, AdsWizz efficiently connects buyers and sellers for digital audio and podcast advertising. AdsWizz is a global company with a presence in over 40 countries.
How you'll make an impact:
Our Ad Sales Engineering organization builds the technical backbone that enables advertisers to plan, deliver, optimize, and monetize campaigns across a massive, multi-platform landscape. This role sits at the intersection of ad delivery (Trafficking) and revenue realization (Billing) - two mission-critical domains that directly impact company revenue.
We are looking for a Staff Python Engineer to provide technical leadership across both:
  • Trafficking Systems - the real-time backbone that powers ad delivery and pacing across platforms.
  • Billing & Finance Platforms - the source of truth for revenue calculation, reconciliation, reporting, and financial integrity.

This is a rare opportunity to influence the entire ad lifecycle - from campaign ingestion to impression delivery to revenue recognition. You will shape architecture, modernize legacy systems, and drive event-driven, cloud-native transformation across both domains.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who:
  • Thinks in distributed systems.
  • Understands revenue-critical pipelines.
  • Thrives in cross-team influence.
  • Wants ownership over systems that directly move business metrics.
  • Brings in AI stewardship.

What you'll do:
  • Lead the design and development of highly scalable and maintainable ASP services powering ad delivery across multiple platforms.
  • Architect and evolve the Slingshot platform toward modern, event-driven, and cloud-native paradigms.
  • Own end-to-end delivery - from system design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Engineering, DevOps, and SRE teams to deliver robust ad-serving capabilities.
  • Partner with Data and ML teams to enable intelligent ad selection, pacing optimization, and automated anomaly detection.
  • Champion observability and reliability, ensuring high availability and operational excellence through Datadog, Grafana, and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Mentor and guide engineers across teams, fostering a culture of technical rigor, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence the long-term technology roadmap, aligning engineering investments with SiriusXM's strategic ad tech goals.

What you'll need:
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in Python (Django, FastAPI, or similar frameworks) and backend architecture, including async programming and microservice design.
  • Strong background in distributed systems and data pipelines, with experience using tools like Celery, Kafka, or Airflow.
  • Experience integrating with ad servers or delivery platforms (e.g., Google Ad Manager, AdsWizz, Triton).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes, including infrastructure automation and service scaling.
  • Solid understanding of observability tools (Datadog, Sentry, Grafana) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Proven success in driving cross-team technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture at an organizational level.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $ 106,600 to $ 200,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
Our goal at SiriusXM is to provide and maintain a work environment that fosters mutual respect, professionalism and cooperation. SiriusXM is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, alienage or citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, gender identity, marital status, familial status, veteran status, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws.
The requirements and duties described above may be modified or waived by the Company in its sole discretion without notice.
