Invasive Cardiovascular Technology Specialist (RCIS/Cath Lab Tech)

Location: Naples, Florida

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Invasive Cardiovascular Technology Specialist (RCIS/Cath Lab Tech) to join a high-performing Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This role is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in both the scrub and monitoring roles while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and procedural efficiency.

The ideal candidate has experience in coronary interventions, peripheral vascular procedures, electrophysiology, and advanced cardiovascular imaging techniques, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in both scrub and monitoring roles.

  • Maintain a sterile field and prepare all invasive equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures.

  • Anticipate physician needs throughout procedures to ensure efficient workflow.

  • Monitor patient status and promptly communicate any changes to the cardiologist and nursing staff.

  • Assist with patient care within the scope of practice before, during, and after procedures.

  • Administer medications during physician-assisted procedures in accordance with department protocols.

  • Demonstrate competency in:

    • Coronary interventions

    • Peripheral vascular interventions

    • Electrophysiology (EP) procedures

    • Atherectomy procedures

    • Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)

    • Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)

    • Vascular closure device deployment

  • Operate cardiovascular imaging and interventional equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Practice radiation safety to protect patients, physicians, and staff.

  • Complete accurate and timely procedural documentation within the electronic medical record.

  • Maintain equipment readiness and report equipment issues promptly.

  • Participate in patient safety initiatives, procedural time-outs, and quality improvement activities.

  • Assist with data collection and submission for cardiovascular registries, including ACC CathPCI and ICD registries.

  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology OR

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

Certifications & Licensure

  • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification preferred.

  • CCI certification required within the employer's required timeframe if applicable.

  • ARRT (R) certification and Florida Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license accepted for Radiologic Technologists.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within one year of hire.

  • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) certification preferred.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory preferred.

  • Experience assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique, cardiovascular anatomy, and hemodynamic monitoring.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with coronary and peripheral interventions.

  • Knowledge of electrophysiology procedures.

  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular imaging equipment.

  • Excellent procedural documentation skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure during emergency procedures.

  • Excellent attention to detail and patient safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during procedures.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and assist with patient movement.

  • Manual dexterity required to operate specialized cardiovascular equipment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced procedural environment.

  • Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.

  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required.
