What’s a typical day as a Lab Operations Technician? You’ll be:
  • Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes to safely receive, move, and stage materials and equipment.
  • Loading, unloading, and transporting equipment within lab, production, and warehouse environments.
  • Cleaning, calibrating, and preparing equipment for customer rentals, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Receiving, inspecting, labeling, and organizing incoming materials and test samples.
  • Inspecting returned rental equipment for damage, functionality, and cleanliness; documenting findings and coordinating action.
  • Setting up laboratory equipment for testing procedures, performing routine preventative maintenance, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized lab environment, ensuring it is always ready for customer tours or demonstrations.
  • Managing inventory of supplies and consumables, restocking as needed to support efficient workflow.
  • Collaborating with laboratory personnel to troubleshoot equipment or procedural issues.
  • Providing professional support and direction to visiting customers, representing the company positively.
  • Documenting and reporting discrepancies or equipment malfunctions to the lab manager.
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Have a high school diploma or GED (required).
  • Possess 0-2 years of experience in a lab, manufacturing, warehouse, or technical environment (preferred).
  • Hold strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Are skilled in the safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Can handle multiple priorities with strict deadlines and maintain high standards of professionalism.
  • Are comfortable working from heights (roofs, ladders, powered lifts) and able to frequently move, adjust, and lift objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Are detail-oriented and able to assess the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
  • Can communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and customers.
  • Will follow safety precautions and wear PPE including safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
  • Experience with global engineering standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, CSA, NFPA, ISO, UL) is preferred.
  • Must be able to see color.
