Fast Hire information

What is a fast hire?

A Fast Hire job refers to a position that employers need to fill quickly, often due to urgent business needs or a high turnover rate. These jobs typically have an expedited recruitment process, meaning candidates may receive interviews and job offers much faster than usual. Fast Hire roles are common in industries like retail, hospitality, customer service, and warehouse operations. Applicants are generally expected to be ready to start work soon after being hired and may need to complete onboarding requirements rapidly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fast hire?

To thrive in a fast hire role, you generally need adaptability, quick learning ability, and a relevant educational or professional background based on the specific industry. Familiarity with common productivity tools and systems such as Microsoft Office, applicant tracking systems, or industry-specific software may be required. Strong communication, resilience, and teamwork set candidates apart in fast-paced environments. These skills and qualities ensure rapid onboarding, effective performance, and the ability to meet urgent business needs.

What can I expect from the onboarding process in a fast hire position?

In a fast hire role, onboarding is typically accelerated to help new employees become productive quickly. You may experience condensed training sessions, immediate hands-on tasks, and close guidance from team members or supervisors. It’s common to have frequent check-ins during your first weeks to address any questions and ensure you’re adapting well. While the learning curve can be steep, the fast-paced environment offers great opportunities to demonstrate your skills and potentially advance rapidly within the company.

Job description

Company Background
Specter's mission is to help automate the physical world.
Today, we build video sensors with state-of-the-art AI agents that answer any question, anywhere in their environments. Our systems can automatically detect and reason about any physical activity captured on camera, from security incidents (e.g. perimeter intrusion, theft, LPR), to safety monitoring (e.g. PPE detection, injured people), to operational efficiency (e.g. material tracking, congestion monitoring). We offer both long range wireless (1km range) and wired sensor variants to suit any deployment.
Our co-founders Xerxes and Philip are passionate about empowering our partners in the fast approaching world of physical AI and robotics. We are a small, fast growing team who hail from Anduril, Tesla, Uber, and the U.S. Special Forces.
The Role
You'll join our team of relentless builders in bringing frontier AI to the physical economy, where the problems are hard, the data is complex, and the impact is immediate and tangible.
Our Founding Recruiter will build the team that builds the LLM for the physical world. This is a hands-on role where you'll hire exceptional engineers and operators who will solve some of the hardest problems in applied AI.
Responsibilities
  • Own full-cycle recruiting. Run the entire hiring process from initial call to signed offer across Engineering, GTM, Operations, and future teams.
  • Run a process that is fast, rigorous, honest, and human. Keep candidates informed and make every interaction reflect the quality of the company we are building.
  • Build the sourcing engine that actually finds the right people. You'll develop creative, targeted approaches to reach exceptional candidates for roles that don't have obvious pipelines.
  • Design processes that help us hire well. Build structured interview plans, scorecards, and debrief frameworks that produce consistent signal and high-quality decisions.
  • Own our recruiting operations. Manage and continuously improve our recruiting stack, including Ashby, sourcing tools, and analytics.
  • Raise hiring quality over time. Identify bottlenecks, track the right metrics, and improve our funnel.
  • Shape Specter's brand as an employer. Craft job descriptions, recruiting content, and candidate messaging that make the right people want to work here.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience in a high-growth startup or agency environment.
  • Proven success hiring exceptional technical talent, with experience recruiting across multiple functions.
  • Excited to build zero to one. You enjoy creating systems, improving processes, and figuring things out without a playbook.
  • High bar for candidate quality. You value making the right hire not making a fast hire
  • Ability to communicate clearly and intelligently. Understand a complex product, describe it simply, and earn credibility with deeply technical individuals.
  • Analytical enough to diagnose problems. Know every aspect of the candidate pipeline, identify patterns, and improve recruiting performance over time.
  • Highly organized. Able to manage multiple tasks while keeping leaders, hiring teams, and candidates informed.
