About This Position

The Food Service Supervisor (Shift Supervisor) prepares and serves a variety of food items following assigned work instructions and menus. You will also use a variety of food preparation utensils and machines in preparing food.

You will report to a Food Service Director. You will work onsite inside of a jail/correctional facility.

Essential Functions/Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts in the kitchen.
  • Assist inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of a variety of food items following departmental work production standards, standardized recipes, and work instructions.
  • Follow assigned facility housekeeping and safety practices in all preparation, oversight, and serving of correctional facility meals.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by our needs.

What You'll Need

Minimum Requirements:

  • We require a high school diploma or GED, and that you are at least 18 years of age.
  • We require a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant, cafeteria experience is a plus, but not necessary.
  • We prefer ServSafe® Food Handler certification.
  • We offer an additional $0.25/hour with certification and we'll provide the training.
