Dock Associate

Position Summary

Certified Meat Products is seeking a dependable and hardworking Dock Associate to join our team. The Dock Associate is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, moving, staging, and organizing product and materials throughout the shipping and receiving areas.

This position plays an important role in ensuring products are handled properly, orders are prepared accurately, and shipments move efficiently from the facility to our customers. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, reliable, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable working in refrigerated areas.

Schedule

Shift: 1st shift, 7am start time
Days: Monday – Friday, weekends as needed
Employment Type: Full-Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Receive incoming products, materials, and supplies and verify quantities and condition.
  • Prepare, stage, and organize products for shipment according to customer and company requirements.
  • Move product between production, storage, cooler, freezer, and shipping areas.
  • Verify product labels, quantities, dates, and other required information.
  • Operate pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment safely.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized and clean dock area.
  • Ensure products are handled carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or product loss.
  • Follow proper food-safety, sanitation, GMP, and HACCP procedures.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting and material-handling practices.
  • Communicate with Production, Warehouse, Transportation, Quality Assurance, and other departments as needed.
  • Report damaged product, equipment problems, safety hazards, or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with inventory counts and product verification when needed.
  • Complete required paperwork, logs, and documentation accurately.
  • Maintain proper product rotation and storage practices.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and work as part of a team to meet department goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, shipping/receiving, food-processing, or distribution environment preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic ability to read, understand, and complete workplace documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the work shift.
  • Repetitive heavy lifting, moving products and materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and/or cold environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely push, pull, and maneuver carts, pallets, and product.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a food-processing, warehouse, shipping, and receiving environment.
  • Employee may be exposed to cold/refrigerated temperatures, wet floors, noise, moving equipment, and varying working conditions.
  • Employees are required to follow all company food-safety, sanitation, quality, and safety requirements.
