Job description

Emergency Veterinarian (ER DVM)
Department: Veterinarians
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Marietta, Georgia
Description
DOGWOOD VETERINARY SPECIALTY AND EMERGENCYMARIETTA, GA • ATLANTA METRO • SECOND LOCATION OPENING SOON
Emergency VeterinarianJoin an emergency team that practices the medicine every patient deserves.
A different kind of emergency hospital
Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency isn't a typical ER. We're a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital where every doctor's primary focus is providing the best possible medical care for each patient - and where every patient has the full weight of a specialty team behind them.
When you walk onto the floor at Dogwood, you're never alone. Five board-certified critical care specialists support every emergency case as needed. Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Oncology, Radiology, Behavior Medicine, and Palliative Care are all in the same building, on the same shared record.
Our second location - opening soon - will add Neurology, Interventional Cardiology, and Dermatology to that bench, deepening the specialty support behind every emergency case we see.
We work as a team. Every patient is our patient.
Our highly trained nursing and technician staff are equal partners in patient care. Doctors talk to each other, learn from each other, and back each other up. There's no "your case, my case" - the work is shared, the wins are shared, and the patient comes first.
Leadership that practices alongside you
Our medical directors are active clinical doctors - not administrators at a distance. They're on the floor every week, seeing patients, supporting cases, and mentoring our team:
  • Dr. Peter Czajkowski, DVM, DACVS - Board-certified veterinary surgeon, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • Dr. Kevin Kirchofer, DVM, MS, DACVECC - Board-certified veterinary criticalist, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care

Decisions about how we practice are made by people who know what it's like to work the cases. That changes everything about the culture.
A facility built for the cases that matter most
Dogwood's hospital is equipped with the diagnostic and treatment tools that emergency medicine actually needs. You'll never have to refer a case out for advanced imaging or specialty support - the tools and the people are already here.
  • MRI and CT scan on-site
  • Floor fluoroscopy for real-time imaging during procedures
  • Mechanical ventilator with full anesthesia capabilities
  • Multi-parameter monitors and continuous telemetry
  • Viscoelastic Coagulation Monitoring (VCM) for real-time clotting analysis
  • 24/7 in-house laboratory, blood bank, and dialysis
  • Modern surgical suites supported by a board-certified anesthesiologist on staff - the only one in the Atlanta area

Who we're looking for & The offer
We're looking for veterinarians who genuinely love emergency medicine. Who want a strong, supportive environment to practice at their best. An internship background is ideal, but we welcome strong candidates with the right clinical foundation and the right mindset.
You'll be a good fit at Dogwood if you:
  • Care deeply about patient outcomes and family communication
  • Want to work as part of a team - not alone in a vacuum
  • Are interested in growing your clinical skills with active specialty mentorship
  • Hold yourself, and the people around you, to a high standard

We offer:
  • ProSalary with production pay - competitive base salary with upside aligned to your work
  • No non-compete - your career stays yours
  • No negative accrual - your compensation isn't held hostage to slow weeks
  • $5,000 annual CE allowance plus paid CE time
  • Relocation assistance for the right candidate
  • 120 hours of PTO
  • Comprehensive benefits package - health, dental, and vision
  • 401K with employer match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Flexible shift options to support work-life balance
  • Licensing, DEA, professional dues, and PLIT paid for
  • Active mentorship from board-certified criticalists, surgeons, and our medical directors

We'd love to hear from you. To learn more about Dogwood - our culture, our cases, and what your day might look like on our team - please send your resume directly to our Medical Director:
