Job description

This is a full time 40 hour a week position, with required weekend days.ย  Applicants proficient in Spanish are encouraged to apply!

    THE POSITION:

    We have an exciting opportunity at our Methuen Animal Care and Adoption Center for an Animal Welfare Specialist. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of the MSPCA' smission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include:

    • Working hands-on with several species of animals, including companion, equine and farm animals, feeding, cleaning and disinfecting animal living spaces, providing enrichment activities, exercising, medication administration, etc.
    • Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.
    • Assisting in the surrender of an animal in an empathetic and compassionate manner that is free from judgment.

    ABOUT NEVINS FARM:

    The MSPCA at Nevins Farm, in Methuen, Massachusetts, is a unique 55-acre animal care complex that provides shelter and adoption services for both farm and companion animals as well as a low cost community clinic and community outreach. In 2024, the MSPCA at Nevins Farm took in a total of 3,035 animals and had a live release rate of 92%.ย Take a virtual tour!

        APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

        We are looking for applicants with at least one year of experience in a customer service/client care position. Previous work or volunteer experience with animals is a plus! Applicants should also demonstrate excellent judgment and interpersonal skills and be eager to work to support the human-animal bond.

        Applicants with a proficiency in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
