Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical expertise, experience with heavy machinery, and a commitment to quality service. This position offers an opportunity to work with diverse equipment including farm machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle fleets in a dynamic environment.

Duties

  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brakes.
  • Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, and alignment procedures.
  • Repair and replace shocks & struts, brake components, and HVAC systems on various equipment.
  • Fabricate parts or modifications using hand tools, power tools, welding, and soldering techniques.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers for testing and repair purposes.
  • Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain detailed service records and communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding repair status.

Experience

  • Proven dealership experience or extensive background in automotive diagnostics and heavy equipment repair.
  • Hands-on experience with Caterpillar machinery, farm machinery, industrial equipment, or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and electrical soldering techniques.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures including transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, brakes, and suspension systems.
  • Familiarity with schematics for electrical systems and mechanical components is preferred.
  • Experience operating excavators, cranes, forklifts, or other heavy machinery is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills is essential for success in this role. This position requires a dedicated professional capable of performing complex repairs efficiently while ensuring safety standards are maintained at all times.
