Salary range- $130,000-$150,000
Summary:
The Director of Supply Chain is responsible to the Chief Operating Officer for the overall leadership of the four-employee Procurement Division for Forney Industries. The Director of Supply Chain will also be the key point of contact for our Forney Asia team. Forney Asia is a team of roughly 5 employees that help source, vet, and maintain relationships with vendors across Asia. Key responsibilities are to develop and maintain a global sourcing strategy that directly supports Company A's fast-growing sales, to oversee manufacturer/supplier vetting, contract negotiations, and selection and to manage approved supplier relations. This role requires a proven background in global/international supply chain management and hands-on leadership of Lean process improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Director is responsible for leadership of the Procurement Team to right-size inventory levels, ensure optimal inventory turns, take corrective action for non-conforming product and to minimize product costs and expenses without impacting quality.?
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage team that creates and manages accurate purchase order creation.
• Lead our Lean Implementation efforts by planning and facilitating Kaizen events, applying 5S and value stream mapping, and building a continuous-improvement culture across the Procurement team.
• Work with sales and product management to support promotion or new customer opportunities.
• Work with product management and engineering to bring new products to market.
• Global Sourcing: Supplier vetting, contract negotiations, and selection.
• Supplier management: Adherence to contract terms, on-time supplier production, cost/pricing negotiations, etc..
• Inventory turns: Reduce total on-hand inventory while maintaining a customer service level of >95%.
• Prepare and issue Transfer Orders (inventory balance), as required to ensure appropriate product availability at all Forney Industry associated warehouses.
• Prepare and issue requests for Proposals/Quotes to support new product introductions.
• Create a faster, more agile supply chain. Use lean methodology to drive waste out of the material ordering processes.
• Work in conjunction with the Director of Logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of overseas and domestic products.
• Improve product quality continuously. Participate in quality improvement teams, assist in developing quality improvement methodology and drive quality discipline into the supply base.
• Direct offshore resources for supplier management and on-time supplier compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Material Management, Operations Management or equivalent with 10-years' experience in Supply Chain/Procurement and 6-years supervisory leadership.
• OR, 20-years' experience in Supply Chain/Procurement with 10-years supervisory leadership.
• Demonstrated experience leading Lean/Continuous Improvement implementations (e.g. Kaizen events, 5S, value stream mapping) within a supply chain or procurement organization; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience sourcing and managing suppliers internationally (e.g. Asia-Pacific, Europe, and/or other overseas manufacturing regions), including direct experience with import/export logistics, overseas supplier negotiations, and offshore supplier management.
• Experience with NetStuite Enterprise Resource Program preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
• Computer literacy required. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is mandatory.
• Implement and improve lean practices while reducing waste.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Analyze technical and financial data.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Attention to detail, the ability to make decisions, and working autonomously are key skills in this role.
• Basic office experience such as typing, filing, and proofreading are mandatory.
• Professional appearance and demeanor are expected.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Inventory turns continuous year-over-year increase.
  • Customer fill-rate =95%.

Language & Mathematical Skills:
Ability to develop, read and interpret contractual documents, customer requests, supplier proposals, sales data, cancellations and the like. Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to design and interpret supply chain and logistical calculations, formulas and graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to interpret a variety of contracts, reports and technical data furnished in written, oral, diagram or virtual on-line formats. Must be a self-starter and able to perform tasks without direct supervision. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and occasionally weld, cut, and grind metal. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
