Job description

Description

Great underwriters know how to balance data, technology, and human judgment. If you enjoy both quantitative and qualitative reasoning, and you're energized by the opportunity to manage your own accounts while partnering closely with agents, brokers, and distribution teammates, consider joining Liberty Mutual's underwriting team. In this role, you'll use underwriting expertise, analytical tools, and AI-enabled insights to develop, grow, and maintain a profitable diversified book of Farm and Ranch business while helping shape the future of underwriting at Liberty Mutual.

Strategic Account Manager

As part of your portfolio strategy, you'll manage a profitable book of Farm and Ranch business by writing new accounts, growing strong agent and broker relationships, and pursuing renewals. You'll use AI-enabled insights and portfolio data to prioritize opportunities, improve submission quality, and strengthen account strategy.

Problem Solver

You'll evaluate data, model insights, and account information to determine risk selection, pricing, terms, and coverage conditions. You'll also identify opportunities to

improve growth, profitability, and diversification using both analytics and underwriting judgment.

Clear Communicator

You'll maintain and strengthen relationships with agents and brokers while collaborating closely with Territory Managers and other distribution partners. You'll present proposals, negotiate deals, and explain underwriting decisions clearly and confidently.

Collaborative Teammate

Contributing to overall team success, you'll partner across underwriting and distribution to improve agency experience, submission quality, renewal execution, and account strategy. You'll also mentor underwriters and share best practices that strengthen both technical underwriting and professional development.

Conscientious Professional

You'll ensure the deal is complete by documenting account reviews, sign-offs, referrals, and underwriting decisions in accordance with company standards and state

requirements.

How we work At Liberty Mutual, underwriting and distribution are increasingly working as strategic partners to improve agency experience, strengthen account execution, and drive profitable growth. In this role, you'll collaborate with distribution teammates and agency partners to improve submission quality, align on renewal strategy, and focus on the highest-opportunity accounts. You'll use AI, data, and financial insight to support faster, more consistent decision-making - while continuing to apply the

human judgment and relationship skills that great underwriting requires.

What AI looks like in this role We're using AI and advanced analytics to help underwriters work smarter - identifying patterns, improving prioritization, supporting submission triage, and surfacing opportunities faster. The right candidate will be comfortable using these tools to enhance underwriting decisions, not replace them. You'll bring the curiosity to learn new tools and the judgment to apply them responsibly.
