Job description

We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.

Summary

This role will partner with experienced Salespeople/Crop Advisors to support the sales effort and service activities and learn the Salesperson/Crop Advisor function. The Field Tech will participate in a personalized training program to develop competencies in selling appropriate product and supplies to industry customers, and to learn support operations through functions such as blending, delivery, equipment setup, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participating in and making sales calls to new and existing customers.
  • As appropriate for the business: blending, delivery, delivery/transport and setup of equipment, equipment maintenance, inventory management, sales planning, customer data management, etc.
  • As appropriate for the business: Soil sampling, plant sampling, product testing, product applications, and field scouting in production agriculture areas.
  • Assisting experienced salespeople/crop advisors with crop care/turf care activities to also include computer input of application tracking, scouting reports, and other spreadsheets as needed.
  • Participation in educational opportunities as identified and assigned by management.

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Combination of education and/or experience will be considered for this position

Skills & Relevant Experience
  • A farm background (or some experience on a farm) highly preferred
  • Some knowledge of agriculture preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Highly motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Proactive in identifying and solving problems
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and proven ability to work with others to accomplish objectives
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Experience or college courses in Marketing/selling preferred
Requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to operate 4-wheel drive and/or ATV vehicles off road or on farm roads
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Pesticide Consultants License
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Commercial Driver’s License
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
