YOUR OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting Health and Welfare Assessor opportunity in Iowa. In this highly impactful role, you will be responsible for collaborating and working with the production leadership team to support operational needs by ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and quality controls are in place to uphold company and regulatory standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct company Welfare Program Training for Contract and Employee locations; document and communicate outcome of site audits of company health and welfare standards including bio-security, vaccine administration, animal handling/welfare, euthanasia equipment, safety and filtration (fulfills PQA Plus requirement)
  • Support farms in implementation of corrective actions identified in internal or external audits, supply medication inventory management on farm and inspections of buildings and equipment (manure management, construction, site care, etc.) as required.
  • Identify and appropriately communicate areas of opportunity beyond the scope of the audit contributing to the continuous systemic improvement.
  • Perform necropsies and submit samples for diagnostic review.
  • Train new and existing employees, growers, and independent contractor on company SOP's on farm to ensure proper adherence and understanding of SOP's while providing follow up support on farm in the form of assessments/audits, diagnostic support, inventory control.
  • Provide support to farms/service team when schedule allows, and additional labor is required
  • Support veterinarians/research department as needed to execute trials supporting system initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or 2-5 years of Swine Experience with 50% of training duties required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Currently certified or will be required to be certified in PQA+ Advisor and TQA training.
  • A valid driver's license and a clear motor vehicle record (MVR).

Preferred:
  • Bilingual; English and Spanish Preferred.

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.

  • Primarily a field position with some administrative work.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is dependent on which environment you are in
  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
