Job description

FARM HAND / ANIMAL CARE & PROPERTY MAINTENANCE

World Class Equine Solutions
Celina, Texas

World Class Equine Solutions is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated Farm Hand / Animal Care & Property Maintenance Team Member to assist with the daily care of our animals and the ongoing maintenance of our farm.

This is not a position for someone who needs to be constantly supervised or given a checklist every hour. We are looking for someone who can learn the property, understand what needs to be done, take ownership of their responsibilities, and make sure the animals and farm are properly cared for every day.

Most importantly, you must genuinely care about animals.

Equestrian experience is a plus as teaching riding lessons is a possibility and preference.

Primary Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will include caring for and maintaining the living areas of a variety of animals, including:

  • Horses
  • Pig
  • Dogs
  • Emus
  • Chickens
  • Other animals that may be added to the farm

Animal-care responsibilities may include:

  • Feeding and watering animals according to established schedules
  • Checking animals daily for injuries, illness, abnormal behavior, or other concerns
  • Cleaning stalls, pens, kennels, coops, feeding areas, and water containers
  • Turning horses out and bringing horses in as needed
  • Handling horses safely
  • Maintaining clean and safe animal areas
  • Monitoring feed, hay, bedding, and other supplies
  • Immediately reporting health, safety, fence, or facility problems
  • Helping maintain an organized barn and feed area

Farm & Property Maintenance

This position also involves general farm and property work, including:

  • Mowing
  • Weed eating
  • Landscaping
  • Fence inspection and minor fence repairs
  • Cleaning barns and outbuildings
  • Trash and debris removal
  • Maintaining pastures and animal areas
  • Moving hay, feed, equipment, and supplies
  • Basic repairs and general property maintenance
  • Keeping equipment, tools, barns, and work areas organized
  • Assisting with seasonal projects
  • Performing other general farm duties as needed

This is a working farm, so responsibilities will change depending on the animals, weather, season, and needs of the property.

What We Are Looking For

The right person will be:

Dependable. Animals have to be fed and cared for every day. Showing up when scheduled is not optional.

Self-motivated. You should be able to see that something needs to be done and take care of it without waiting for someone to tell you.

Observant. If a horse is limping, a water trough is leaking, a fence is damaged, or an animal is acting strangely, we expect you to notice.

Hardworking. Farm work is physical. Some days are hot, cold, muddy, wet, dusty, or simply difficult.

Responsible. We need someone we can trust around valuable animals, equipment, buildings, and property.

Organized. Feed rooms, barns, tools, equipment, and animal-care areas should be kept clean and orderly.

Comfortable working independently. After training, you should be capable of completing your responsibilities without continuous supervision.

Someone who actually likes animals. This is extremely important. We want someone who views feeding and caring for animals as a responsibility—not just another chore to finish as quickly as possible.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Be capable of reliably reporting to work as scheduled
  • Be comfortable working around large animals
  • Be able to perform physically demanding outdoor work
  • Be able to lift and carry feed bags, hay, equipment, and similar farm supplies
  • Be willing to work outside in Texas weather
  • Be willing to get dirty
  • Follow animal-care and safety instructions
  • Be able to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Communicate promptly when an animal, fence, facility, or equipment problem is discovered

Prior farm, ranch, horse, landscaping, maintenance, construction, or animal-care experience is strongly preferred.

Horse-handling experience is particularly valuable.

The Person We Want

We are looking for the person who walks past an empty water bucket and fills it.

The person who sees a gate hanging wrong and fixes it or tells someone about it.

The person who notices that an animal isn't behaving normally.

The person who doesn't walk past trash because "that's not my job."

The person who understands that animals depend on us whether it is hot, cold, raining, a weekend, or a holiday.

If you need someone standing over you telling you what to do throughout the day, this probably is not the right position.

If you take pride in your work, enjoy being outdoors, care about animals, and like seeing a property look better at the end of the day than it did when you arrived, we would like to meet you.

Schedule

Schedule will be based on the needs of the farm and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays because animal care is required seven days a week.

Compensation

Pay is depending upon experience, reliability, horse-handling ability, and overall qualifications.

Opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation may be available for an exceptional employee who demonstrates reliability, initiative, and the ability to independently manage farm responsibilities.

How to Apply

Please submit:

  • Your name and contact information
  • Brief description of your work history
  • Any farm, ranch, horse, livestock, landscaping, construction, or maintenance experience
  • Your availability
  • Whether you have reliable transportation
  • Two professional references, if available

Please also answer the following question:

“Tell us about a time you noticed something that needed to be done at work and took care of it without being asked.”

World Class Equine Solutions is looking for someone who wants to become a trusted part of the operation—not simply someone looking for a temporary outdoor job.

Company Description

About World Class Equine Solutions

World Class Equine Solutions is a growing equine and agricultural operation dedicated to horsemanship, education, recreation, rehabilitation, and the responsible care of animals.

Our programs and services include horseback riding lessons for beginner through advanced riders, horsemanship and horse-familiarity instruction, rodeo and performance riding lessons, trail riding experiences, equine-assisted therapy programs, and horse rescue and rehabilitation.

Our goal is to create an environment where people can develop confidence, discipline, practical horsemanship skills, and a genuine connection with horses. We work with riders of different ages and experience levels and emphasize safety, proper animal care, responsible horsemanship, and respect for both the animals and the property.

World Class Equine Solutions also provides a home for rescued and rehabilitated horses and other animals. Because of this, animal welfare is central to everything we do. Every member of our team is expected to treat the animals with patience, respect, attentiveness, and compassion.

As the operation continues to grow, we are developing World Class Equine Solutions into a destination for equine education, therapeutic programs, rodeo and western riding instruction, trail experiences, horse rescue, and family-oriented agricultural activities.

We are looking for employees who want to help build something special—not simply complete assigned tasks. The right team members take pride in the animals, the property, and the experience we provide to every person who visits World Class Equine Solutions.
