Family Nurse Practitioner (APRN)

Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa (IHCRC) is a nonprofit organization empowering the American Indian community through exceptional, culturally responsive healthcare. The Family Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to patients of all ages in an outpatient Same Day Clinic setting. This position primarily serves patients seeking walk-in and same-day care for acute illnesses, minor injuries, routine health concerns, and other primary care needs. The Family Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and educating patients while working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and the healthcare team. The ideal candidate is adaptable, clinically confident, compassionate, and comfortable caring for a diverse patient population in a fast-paced walk-in environment.

Essential Job Functions

Adheres to the American Medical Association or other appropriate professional code of ethics.

Provide comprehensive primary and same-day care to patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Communicates effectively and efficiently with patients, coworkers, and other members of the care team.

Demonstrates clinical proficiency in field through peer review and direct observation by members of the care team.

Works well with other team members of the interdisciplinary care team.

Provides comprehensive primary care medical services within the scope of licensure, approved IHCRC privileges, and professional ethics standards, augmented by continued training and/or certification, community standards, and experience.

Maintains appropriate documentation in EHR system.

Participates in company meetings.

Actively pursues quality improvement using GPRA measures, AAAHC recommendations.

Other duties as assigned.

Required License, Certification, Education, Specialized Skills

Bachelor's and Master's Degree requirements to attend an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program.

Valid and current Oklahoma APRN license.

Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

2+ years clinical experience preferred.

BLS CPR certification.

Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with electronic health records software.

Must be a self-starter, multi-tasker, with ability to effectively give direction to care team.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in family practice, primary care, urgent care, or same-day/walk-in care.

Experience caring for patients across the lifespan.

Experience working in a community health center, nonprofit healthcare organization, or other safety-net healthcare setting.

Experience working with patients from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and healthcare backgrounds.

Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives and population health.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The employee is on feet most of day, both on the computer and interacting with others. Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting. This position performs tasks that may involve direct exposure to patients. Incumbent will be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and in working environment. Personal protective equipment use is required.
