Job description

How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Delta Air Lines connects the world by flying 180 million customers to 300+ destinations every year. Delta’s success is fueled by our team of 100,000 employees who are passionate about how travel brings people together, encourages appreciation, and creates a better world for all of us. This success is further driven by a forward-looking talent strategy and values-based culture that puts Delta’s people at the center of everything we do.

Delta’s Talent Assessment team supports our talent strategy by promoting best practice and innovative use of assessments in employee selection and development programs. We are a team of Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology practitioners seeking a graduate-level I-O intern to expand our team’s capability and impact, while obtaining valuable professional development, mentoring, and work experience in our field.

Primary Functions:

  • Support talent assessment consulting and research projects involving assessment design, validation, and ongoing monitoring and subject matter expert advisory support

  • Build custom skill-based assessments and interviews for hiring and internal development/certification purposes

  • Conduct statistical analyses and produce insights as part of broader assessment validation and applied research studies

  • Collaborate on additional consulting and research projects (on an availability/need basis) across Talent Acquisition and Talent Management functions

  • Support assessment practice area improvement projects including workflow creation, data reporting, data analytics and insights

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Graduate intern candidates must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D.-level graduate degree program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology

  • Candidate must be actively enrolled as a graduate student throughout full duration of internship

  • The internship is a full-time (40 hours/week) commitment during standard business operating hours, Monday to Friday

  • Student cannot actively take courses (inclusive of online or in-person classes) if it interferes with their ability to maintain the full-time work schedule required by the internship

  • The internship is a hybrid position, with specific days/week required onsite at Delta’s General Offices in Atlanta (specific days/times to be mutually determined), and remaining work time to be completed remotely

  • Working as an intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation. This position is intended to provide you with educational and professional work experience to prepare you for the workforce

  • Demonstrated expertise in job analysis, assessment and selection system design, assessment validation strategies, and psychometrics

  • Proficiency in one or more statistical analysis software programs (SAS, R, Python, etc.) for applied statistical analysis

  • Possess foundational technical knowledge and skill in employee selection, psychometrics, statistical analysis, and applied research

  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Work experience and/or applied research experience in talent assessment applied to employee selection and/or development programs

  • Working knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance environment related to employee selection and other employment decisions
