YOC cooperates with local universities and academic facilities to include, Taylor University, IVY Tech State College, University of Indianapolis, Ball State University, Indiana Wesleyan, and more to promote education in the Human Services field of study. The YOC provides a variety of paid and non-paid internships for students on the YOC campus. We offer diverse opportunities for bachelor level internships in Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Human Services as well as a master's internship in Psychology or Counseling Psychology.
Bachelor Level Internships
Types: Criminal Justice and Criminology, Family Studies, Education/Teaching, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services
Staff will complete this internship under the supervision of a YOC Program Manager.
Experience/exposure can include:
• Juvenile Probation Officer
• OFC Case Manager
• Attending Administrative meetings
• Co-Facilitating topical groups
• Completing Professional Documentation
• Attending Juvenile Court hearing
• Resident Supervision/Interaction
• Implementation of a daily treatment schedule
• Implementation of the residents individual treatment plan
Supervision includes:
• Regular Supervision with a frontline supervisor
• Group Supervision with frontline supervisor, YOC Director of Program Services, and the University Internship Coordinator.
• Onsite evaluation of performance is conducted
*Most interns will work as a direct care staff and may get some hours shadowing a Manager (depending on your University and area of study)
