Fall Publishing Internship Jobs in Alaska (NOW HIRING)

Whalesong, the UAS student newspaper, is looking for student reporters for Fall 2026 & Spring 2027 semesters. UAS Whalesong reporters will cover events and issues vital to UAS. Ideal candidates will be team players with excellent writing skills, the ability to research topics, conduct interviews, write and edit accurate, fair and balanced stories, and provide visuals to illustrate their stories on the Whalesong website, Instagram and some print materials.
During the Academic Year 2026-27, all Whalesong employees have the option of hourly payment or a paid 1 - 3 credit internship, resulting in a tuition waiver. Students who choose payment will receive $14.38 per hour. Those who prefer an internship will receive academic credit and a grade for their work. All students will work under the supervision of Dr. Rosemarie Alexander-Isett, Whalesong faculty advisor.
All Whalesong employees will attend weekly meetings, must be able to meet deadlines, and may be asked to periodically promote the newspaper at UAS and Juneau community events.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled as a UAS student taking a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.

This is a part-time student position located on the UAS campus in Juneau, AK.
