Job description

Warfel Construction Company is currently seeking a skilled and reliable Concrete Finisher. The Concrete Finisher position requires strict adherence to all Warfel safety rules and regulations, including any site-specific necessities. This role is largely responsible for working with concrete by placing, finishing, protecting and repairing concrete.

Requirements

Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The ability to expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, curbs, and floors.
  • Setting the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues
  • Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver
  • Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
  • Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
  • Applying sealing and hardening components.
  • Safely operating power vibrator to ensure concrete is compacted.
  • Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
  • Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.
  • Waterproofing, damp-proofing, and restoring concrete surfaces.
  • Installing anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
  • Needs to have a commitment to safety and keeping the work area neat and clean.
  • Help keep the jobsites clean by sweeping compound, HEPA vac., and brooms.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials. Frequency will vary based on work at the time. Equipment may be available for assistance.
  • Ability to kneel for long periods of time.
  • Position may require frequent walking throughout the jobsite.
  • Working at heights will vary, as well as working with various pieces of equipment that will provide protection at such heights, scaffolds, aerial man lifts, and personal fall protection.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree or GED equivalent, technical school, or college experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.
  • Must complete OSHA 10 - hour and OSHA 30 - hour training program.
  • Knowledge of hand-held and power tools including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.
  • Excellent communication, organization and people skills, with proven success working in team environments.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
