Job Description:

Principal Software Engineer, UX - Asset Management Technology Foundations

Note: Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.

The Role

We are seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in UX Design Systems to lead the architecture, quality, and adoption of enterprise design system.

This is a senior hands-on technical role with a strong UX bar. You will be responsible for translating user experience principles into scalable, reusable, and accessible design system assets-including design tokens, component libraries (e.g., PrimeNG-based), theming frameworks, and UX standards.

You will work at the intersection of UX design and engineering, ensuring that the design system is both user-centered and production-ready, enabling teams to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences across a complex application ecosystem.

The Expertise & Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Extensive experience building and scaling enterprise design systems (tokens, theming, component libraries, governance).
  • Proven ability to translate UX design into reusable, systemized engineering assets adopted across large ecosystems.
  • Hands-on experience with component ecosystems such as PrimeNG or equivalent UI libraries.
  • Deep expertise with Figma and modern design-to-development workflows.
  • Experience driving UX consistency across multi-application platforms - Desktop, Web and Mobile.
  • Experience with desktop interoperability platforms and standards, including FDC3, and related interop products, enabling application composition, context sharing, and crossapplication workflows would be a plus.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled UX patterns, such as:
    • Context-aware interfaces
    • Intelligent workflows
    • Personalization and adaptive UI
  • Ability to influence UX standards, design system adoption, and platform direction at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript, with deep expertise in building scalable, maintainable UI systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining:
    • Design token systems
    • Reusable UI components and patterns
    • Theming and styling architectures
  • Experience working with and extending component frameworks (e.g., PrimeNG) to align with enterprise UX standards.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Ability to ensure visual and interaction consistency across diverse applications.
  • Experience collaborating closely with designers to ensure fidelity between design and implementation.
  • Ability to create prototypes, interaction patterns, and UX validations as needed.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI tooling into the design system lifecycle, including:
    • AI-assisted design generation (e.g., Figma AI, Copilot)
    • Code generation and UI scaffolding
    • Automated UX validation and accessibility checks
  • Understanding of API-driven UI integration and shared platform services.
  • Strong focus on performance, usability, and design quality

The Team

Architecture and Technology Foundation (ATF) team is a central team within Asset Management that provides ready-to-use solutions composed of standard technology stacks, development frameworks, reusable software components and services. As a member of the team, you will work on Integrated Experience Platform capabilities - web and desktop experience platforms, design systems, shared component libraries and core UI frameworks that power applications across Asset Management.
