Leidos is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Space Nuclear Monitoring Specialist to serve as a Senior Technical Advisor. This critical role directly supports our nonproliferation mission by leveraging deep technical expertise in space-based remote nuclear detection. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional initiative and critical thinking in evaluating strategic efforts to prevent nuclear proliferation.

This is a full-time, on-site position located in the Washington, DC NNSA offices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced remote detection techniques and space-based assets to analyze complex sensor data, identifying, characterizing, and localizing nuclear activities for nonproliferation purposes.
  • Provide expert review and evaluation of proposals, white papers, and technical documents focusing on space monitoring for nuclear nonproliferation and develop new thought leadership on emerging space-based nuclear monitoring technologies.
  • Deliver comprehensive technical evaluations of program work, attend conferences to inform federal managers of advancements, and offer strategic guidance on applying space-based remote detection for nuclear nonproliferation.
  • Proactively identify and solve challenges in space nuclear monitoring, working closely with experts in space systems, nonproliferation policy, and intelligence to integrate findings and enhance global security.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have an active DOE Q clearance with no impedance to being read into Secure Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a related field with 12+ years related experience in signal processing/remote sensing, or a Masters degree with 10+ years of related experience in signal processing/remote sensing.
  • Demonstrable experience providing technical support and strategic guidance to Federal Agencies space nuclear monitoring initiatives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of professional principles, practices, techniques, and procedures in space-based remote detection of nuclear activities. This includes extensive experience with designing, developing, and analyzing systems for information extraction from space-based sensors.
  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills, with the proven ability to articulate complex technical information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD from an accredited university in a related field.
  • Direct experience with current and emergent space-based nuclear detection systems and data.
  • In-depth familiarity with nuclear fuel cycles, weapons physics, and forensics relevant to space-based detection.

Salary Range for this position: $180K to $190K

Pay Range:Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
