Job Summary
The Laundry Attendant position sorts, washes, dries and folds linen to provide linens to the rest of the Housekeeping department or directly to guests in a timely manner. This position ensures that the Room Attendants have clean linens to clean rooms and prepare them for occupancy by the deadlines established at the hotel.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Laundry Attendant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain order and neatness in the laundry room so that all employees can walk safely through the room as needed.
  • Practice safety protocols always to prevent injury, to include proper lifting techniques, use of laundry chemical products, wet floor hazards, proper use of washers and dryers, etc.
  • Follow established guidelines for handling soiled linen that may contain bloodborne pathogens.
  • Provide clean linens as timely as possible to Room Attendants to prevent delays in providing clean vacant rooms to guests.
  • Sort linens for washer.
  • Apply approved cleaning agents to remove stains from soiled linen.
  • Operate washers and dryers properly according to hotel and/or brand standards.
  • Fold all linens per hotel and/or brand standards.
  • Wash banquet and/or kitchen/breakfast laundry. Locate linen for these departments if not delivered to the laundry room.
  • Wash bedspreads, bed pads, and blankets per instructions.
  • Notify management if linen inventory or cleaning products may need to be reordered.
  • Assist the housekeeping department with cleaning public areas, rooms, stripping or making beds, or other tasks when asked by management.
  • Various other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements
  • Must have the ability to lift and/or carry at least 50-75 lbs.
  • Must be able to manage inventory flow to Room Attendants or others to divide smaller amounts somewhat equally between the employees. all receive some linen at the start of their shifts
  • Must communicate in a positive and courteous way to all employees and guests
