Job description

Job Announcement Works within the office of Fairfax County Dranesville District Supervisor James. N. Bierman, Jr.

Staff Aide is expected to be a self-starter accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for a portfolio that includes communications and constituent services. Duties include: Produce weekly events newsletter in coordination with District office staff.

Manage and grow social media channels, including publishing prepared content on some weekends and evenings. Provide constituent services on various issues and serve as the liaison to county departments and state/federal agencies. Attend virtual and in-person stakeholder meetings and participate in community engagement events.

Monitor projects and collaborate with County agencies on District initiatives. Assist with drafting of press releases, talking points, and board matters. The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Ability to use discretion and be able to work independently. Basic skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent workplace software NOTE: Please send your resume and cover letter outlining your education, experience, and availability to dranesville@fairfaxcounty.gov and include "Staff Aide" in the subject line. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid driver's license NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer. Ability to work outside of normal business hours, as required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in political settings.

Experience utilizing Graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Canva and Newsletter software such as Constant Contact, GovDelivery, Mailchimp. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will require use of a personal vehicle to attend events outside of the office. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
