What is a factory worker?

Factory workers are individuals employed in manufacturing plants or production facilities where they operate machinery, assemble products, or monitor production processes. Their responsibilities can include sorting materials, packing goods, quality control, and maintaining equipment. Factory workers often follow specific safety and efficiency procedures to ensure high-quality output and a safe working environment. This role typically requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks. Factory workers may work in various industries, such as automotive, electronics, food processing, and textiles.

What are the duties and responsibilities of a factory worker?

The duties and responsibilities of a factory worker vary depending on the purpose of the factory. As a factory worker, you take part in at least one aspect of the manufacturing or production process. The different steps needed to produce a product are collectively called a production line. A factory worker may use machinery or perform manual tasks as part of the line. Some factory workers monitor output, pack or sort finished products, or assess the quality of manufactured goods. You may also be trained to do multiple jobs on the line.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a factory worker?

To thrive as a Factory Worker, you need strong manual dexterity, basic math skills, physical stamina, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with industrial machinery, safety procedures, and sometimes certifications such as OSHA training are typically required. Reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail are crucial soft skills that help maintain productivity and safety. These skills and qualities ensure efficient production, quality control, and a safe working environment on the factory floor.

What are some common challenges factory workers face, and how can they be addressed?

Factory workers often encounter challenges such as repetitive tasks, physical fatigue, and maintaining safety standards in a fast-paced environment. Adhering to ergonomic best practices, taking scheduled breaks, and using proper personal protective equipment can help minimize physical strain and reduce injury risks. Open communication with supervisors and participating in ongoing safety training can also enhance the work experience and ensure a safer, more efficient workplace.

High-Ticket In-Home Sales Consultant - Closet Factory

Birmingham, AL โ€ข Remote

Full-time

Posted 17 days ago

Job description

JOB OVERVIEW

Qualified Leads Provided | Flexible Schedule

We are hiring salespeople, not interior designers.

Closet Factory Birmingham is rebuilding and expanding its sales team, and we are looking for proven sales professionals who know how to close business โ€” not simply people with design experience.

If you have succeeded in in-home sales, home improvement, windows, bath remodeling, flooring, roofing, kitchens, cabinets, new-home sales, HVAC, or another high-ticket consultative sales environment, we want to talk with you.

Closet or interior-design experience is not required. We will teach you the design system, products, software, and process.

What We Offer

  • Uncapped commissions
  • Company-generated homeowner appointments
  • High-ticket residential projects
  • Performance bonuses
  • Higher commission for self-generated business
  • Paid ramp/training support
  • Flexible Schedule: Manage your appointments and work independently.
  • Work From Home: Prepare designs, proposals, and follow-ups remotely.
  • Professional Support: Training, design software, samples, marketing materials, and installation support are provided.

What You Will Do

You will meet homeowners in their homes, understand what they want to accomplish, design a customized storage solution, present the proposal, and guide the customer toward a purchase decision.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Running company-generated homeowner appointments
  • Conducting an effective in-home sales consultation
  • Identifying the customer's needs, priorities, budget, and decision criteria
  • Measuring spaces and developing customized solutions using our design system
  • Presenting premium Closet Factory solutions and pricing
  • Handling objections professionally
  • Asking for and closing the sale
  • Following up consistently with undecided prospects
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records and sales activity
  • Developing referral and self-generated business over time
  • Working closely with our production and installation teams to create an excellent customer experience

Who We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who have successfully sold:

  • Windows and doors
  • Bath or kitchen remodeling
  • Flooring
  • Roofing or exterior home improvement
  • Cabinets and countertops
  • HVAC replacement systems
  • New homes
  • Custom residential products
  • Other high-ticket products or services directly to consumers

Strong sales experience is more important to us than previous closet-design experience.

Our strongest candidates will be able to talk specifically about:

  • Personal annual sales production
  • Average transaction size
  • Appointment volume
  • Closing percentage
  • Sales goals and performance
  • How they handle price objections
  • How they follow up when a customer doesn't buy immediately
Compensation

This is a performance-driven sales opportunity with uncapped earning potential.

The compensation structure includes:

  • Commission on personal sales
  • Company-generated sales opportunities
  • Additional opportunity for self-generated business
  • Performance incentives
  • Paid/ramp compensation during the initial training period
  • Significant upside for high performers

Successful salespeople should be motivated by earning substantially more through performance rather than by a fixed salary ceiling.

Specific earnings depend on individual performance, lead volume, average project size, closing percentage, and other factors.

Training

You do not need to arrive knowing how to design closets.ย We will train you on:

  • Closet Factory products
  • Space planning and design
  • Design software
  • Measuring
  • Pricing
  • Product presentation
  • Our sales process
  • CRM and follow-up
  • Production and installation workflow

We are looking for someone who already understands sales fundamentals and is motivated to learn the technical and design side of the business.

Why Join Closet Factory Birmingham?

This is not an opportunity to disappear into a large sales organization.

We are building a new team around the Birmingham market and are initially looking for aย small number of strong performers.

For the right salesperson, that creates an opportunity to:

  • Join at an early stage
  • Work directly with ownership
  • Help build the sales culture
  • Receive meaningful attention and coaching
  • Grow as the Birmingham operation grows
  • Potentially earn greater responsibility based on demonstrated performance

We intend to build a team based on performance, accountability, professionalism, and customer experience.

You'll Probably Be a Good Fit If...
  • You enjoy sitting across the table from a homeowner.
  • You are comfortable discussing a $10,000, $15,000, or larger purchase.
  • You don't become uncomfortable when someone says: "That's more than we expected."
  • You know how to ask questions instead of immediately discounting.
  • You understand that following up is part of selling.
  • You track your numbers.

If you're a proven salesperson but have never designed a closet, don't let that stop you from applying.

We can teach closets. We're looking for people who know how to sell.

This May Not Be the Right Position If...
  • You are primarily looking for a salaried design position.
  • You are uncomfortable with performance-based compensation.
  • You dislike asking customers for the sale.
  • You expect leads alone to create results.
  • You don't consistently follow up.
  • Or you cannot describe your previous sales performance in measurable terms.
