Job description

Embroidery Machine Operator / Production Operator - Durham, NC - $16.00 - $17.00/hour
An embroidery production facility in Durham, North Carolina is hiring machine operators for first and second shift. Starting pay is $16.00/hour with a clear path to $17.00/hour once you hit production targets.  The progression is real, the timeline is defined, and the criteria are spelled out before you start.

This is a hands-on production role. You will set up and operate multi-head embroidery machines, prep garments, interpret design specs, and keep production moving. If you have a background in sewing, embroidery, or any production manufacturing environment and you have good attention to detail and steady hands, this is worth your time.

What You Will Do
  • Set up and operate multi-head embroidery machines, including loading proper threads, needles, and materials
  • Hoop and prepare garments accurately for embroidery production
  • Interpret design specifications and verify proper placement and alignment on each piece
  • Inspect completed products and address defects or errors immediately
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting
  • Keep accurate records of machine settings, inventory, and completed orders
The Details
  • Pay: $16.00/hour to start, increasing to $17.00/hour after 30 consecutive days meeting production targets of 30 quality units per hour
  • Schedule: First shift 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or second shift 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Saturday hours required during peak season.
  • Type: Temp-to-hire, with strong performers converting to permanent employment.
  • Location: Durham, North Carolina
  • Start: Immediate openings on both shifts
  • Pay: Weekly direct deposit from day one
The Training Program
This position includes a structured 10-day hands-on training program. The first five days cover daily production routines, machine calibration, cleaning, thread handling, bobbin calibration, and logo downloads. The final five days focus on machine programming, hooping, and measurement accuracy. You will know exactly what is expected before you are on your own.

What We Are Looking For
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Basic math skills including fractions, inches, and degrees (used daily for machine setup and calibration)
  • Comfort working with small tools, small screws, needles, thread, and delicate machine components
  • Ability to stand for a full shift and lift up to 50 lbs multiple times daily
  • Reliable transportation to Durham, North Carolina
Preferred:
  • Prior embroidery or sewing experience
  • Familiarity with embroidery machine operation or garment decoration production
