We currently have an opportunity for a Machine Operator - Household Foil/Foodservice at our Manufacturing Plant in Mississauga, ON.

Responsibilities

The Machine Operator operates production rewind and packaging equipment to safely manufacture high-quality household foil and foodservice products while supporting productivity, quality, and operational efficiency. This role monitors equipment performance, verifies product quality, maintains accurate production records, and partners with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime. Working within established procedures, the position exercises sound judgment to identify routine production issues and escalates more complex equipment or quality concerns as needed.

Production Operations

  • Operate household foil rewind and packaging equipment to achieve production, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Set up and thread rewind equipment, verify all machine guards are in place, and prepare equipment for safe operation.
  • Load raw materials, including foil, cores, and packaging materials, to maintain continuous production flow.
  • Clear routine equipment jams, rethread equipment, and restart operations while minimizing production interruptions.
  • Monitor machine performance and communicate equipment issues requiring technical support to the appropriate personnel.

Quality

  • Inspect finished rolls and packaged products for defects such as tears, holes, wrinkles, barber poling, and packaging quality.
  • Verify finished products meet established quality standards before packaging and shipment.
  • Escalate non-routine quality concerns to Lead Hand, Set-Up Specialist, or Production Supervisor.

Material Handling & Documentation

  • Safely operate motorized material handling equipment to transport raw materials and finished goods within the production area.
  • Complete accurate production and operational records to support inventory, traceability, and production reporting.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area through effective housekeeping practices.
  • Use required personal protective equipment and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.

Requirements

Education/Experience

     Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Experience operating manufacturing or production equipment in a machine-paced environment.

     Preferred

  • Experience operating rewind, packaging, or converting equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to safely operate production equipment following established work procedures.
  • Ability to identify routine equipment and product quality issues.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to address minor production interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and leadership teams.
