JOB TITLE: Front Cell Operator 

 

SHIFT: 1st (Mon-Thu, 5AM to 3PM) 


LOCATION: Norwell, MA

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform duties of the Front Cell including set-up and run rotary hammers, back bend, and press product into shape as well as the set-up and operation of circle shear and wet blaster. Follow documented work/operating procedures to perform each task. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • All machines should be set up according to cell work instructions
  • Reading and Filling out specification charts
  • Transfer cymbals between work centers and load on machines
  • Ensure proper equipment/tools are used in the machine set up process
  • Operate die handling equipment for the use of pressing product into shape
  • Work closely with the Team leader and other cell members and communicate effectively across departments and shifts
  • Maintain established quality and throughput standards
  • Follow prescribed safety precautions, established company and department policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and questionable conditions to proper supervision
  • Maintain work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition with a focus on housekeeping and 5S standards
  • Maintain daily production and other records as required
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machines as requested and complete documentation in the maintenance tracking system
  • Perform other related duties as required or directed

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work under general supervision, proceed along on regular duties, referring questionable cases to supervisor or others.


EDUCATION, TRAINING, and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires High School Diploma or Equivalent. Preference given to 2-3 years working with metal forming processes. Experience working in a manufacturing environment is expected. This position requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting, and simple arithmetic as well as the carrying out of instructions. The role also requires the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, and/or LICENSES: Awareness of OSHA and safety procedures


REASONING ABILITY: Requires the use of some judgment to comply with instructions and standard procedures, methods or practices involving the making of minor decisions.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting, decimals, fractions, simple arithmetic that is involved in carrying out work instructions.


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS and/or PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Challenging working conditions due to elevated temperatures and humidity. Countermeasures are in place to maximize work comfort. Continuous mental and visual attention; Usually repetitive work or diversified operations constant alertness or activity. Required to walk, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise, vibration, water, oil, etc. but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Employee is required to wear safety glasses, safety gloves, and ear protection as well as other PPE specific to their activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (If Applicable): This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
