Facilities Associate (Full Time)
SUMMARY

This role is responsible for working with all VCC staff members, volunteers and outside groups to effectively prepare for all building events, including weekend services, staff events and meetings in a manner consistent with the mission and values of VCC and the direction of Church and Facilities management. Assisting the Facilities Director with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned and directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain a strong and effective working relationship with the Director.
  • Recruit and lead church based volunteers in accordance with the VCC Strategic Initiatives.
  • Perform daily facility tasks as outlined in the Facilities Master Schedule, to include weekly projects as defined therein, communicate any non-completion issues to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for event setup and tear downs.
  • Work one-on-one with assigned Community Service Volunteers (CSV) and maintain appropriate oversight of tasks. Minister through conversation (based on CSV comfort level) to establish rapport and provide opportunities for ministry.
  • Issue vehicle keys, ensuring key log is completed and driver identified on list of approved VCC drivers.
  • Promptly respond to incoming questions/requests (via phone/email/radio/walk-in) in a professional manner and maintain accessibility to supervisor and team members by keeping cell phone and radio on hand.
  • Assist with special/large event planning and setup as requested.
  • Assist with training of new team members, including one-on-one training in areas of set-ups, daily work flows, security, alarm response, handling inquiries, HVAC monitoring and adjustments, and/or attention to details campus-wide.
  • Respond to and handle emergency situations in a prompt and professional manner. Receive training and assist with severe weather evacuations, fire alarms, active shooters and other related situations as needed.
  • Report building issues via the Facility Work Request system, and assist with minor and routine repair and maintenance items, such as painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, preventative maintenance on equipment, and other related tasks as directed.
  • Assist with the routine maintenance of commonly used equipment.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisor, regarding overall facility conditions and needs.
  • Communicate to the Director the effectiveness of contracted vendors, including cleaning service(s).
  • Attend department and staff-wide meetings and events.
  • Assist the Director by maintaining organization of supply and parts closets at all buildings.
  • Assist with other ministry-related duties as needed or assigned, including seasonal exterior help (snow removal) and weekend coverage as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Normal periods of sitting and standing in an office environment.
  • Extended periods of standing, moving, bending and lifting in a campus wide environment.
  • Extended period of standing.
  • Lifting and/or pushing objects up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Lifting and/or pushing objects up to 90 lbs. on an occasional basis with an assist.
  • Working with heavy machinery or equipment on a regular or occasional basis.
  • Working outdoors in potentially inclement weather conditions.
  • Working at heights of up to 35 feet.
