Job description

Meta is seeking an experienced Network Production Engineer skilled in tooling, networking, systems, and automation. Tasked with managing, provisioning, deploying, and integrating new products into one of the most robust, expansive, and intricate networks across the globe, this team relies heavily on automation to keep pace with scale requirements. In this position, your primary focus will be designing, building, and launching the vital tools and automation necessary for network provisioning, deployment, new network product introductions, and global scaling. Collaborating with engineers across Meta, you will create the systems and production code that powers a massive global network and sustains the network infrastructure used daily by billions of people worldwide.
Responsibilities
Design and develop automation, tools, and workflows to facilitate the seamless integration of new routing and switching platforms into the network infrastructure ()
• Design and develop provisioning solutions that scale across a variety of network hardware platforms
• Architect and build end-to-end test automation frameworks, leveraging AI to generate, optimize, and execute test suites at scale for qualification of network platforms, new products (switches, routers, optical devices), and network software - integrating them into CI/CD pipelines for continuous qualification
• Perform deep dives on complex technical issues across networks, ranging from automated tooling to hardware failures and network issues
• Participate in an oncall rotation with the rest of the provisioning and test automation team
• Proactively identify gaps that impact multiple teams, develop execution plans, drive projects to completion, and influence partner teams to achieve outcomes
• Increase operational efficiency across peers and cross-functional teams by identifying roadblocks, designing and delivering automation solutions, and driving change
• Contribute to team growth and development through peer mentorship
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, test automation, or infrastructure engineering
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, C++, or Java), with hands-on experience adopting AI for coding and the capacity to rapidly master new development languages
• 5+ years of experience developing software on Linux-based operating systems
• 3+ years of experience in developing automation and tools for network provisioning, deployment, and operations
• 3+ years of experience developing and understanding network device configurations for at least one vendor (e.g., Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Ciena, Infinera, Nokia)
• Demonstrated knowledge of TCP, IPv4/6, routing protocols (BGP, MPLS, IS-IS, or similar), and related network services (e.g., DHCP, DNS)
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience with software and network debugging, profiling, and instrumentation techniques
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated knowledge of Django and SQL databases
• Experience developing and understanding automation tools for network operations within a DevOps environment, including provisioning (e.g., ZTP), deployments, monitoring, remediation, and software push systems
• Experience with configuration management and automation frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Experience developing distributed systems and operating them at scale
• MS or graduate-level experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
