We are the UI Platform team, responsible for enabling all frontend developers at Databricks to build amazing features. We support hundreds of developers working in the frontend every week, making sure that they can use AI tooling to build features, can quickly ship them to production, and have best-in class monitoring and observability of what they build.. We own all aspects of the dev loop, relying on industry-standard technology like Typescript, React, GraphQL, yarn, node and more!
We're seeking a dedicated Engineering Leader for our Developer Experience team. This team is responsible for the entire life cycle of a feature: dev loop, submitting, pushing, monitoring... everything needed to ensure smooth delivery of code from the developer's head to production!
You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering.
The main responsibilities include:
  • You will lead a talented engineering team in UI Platform focused on making our frontend developer experience amazing.
  • You will oversee sustained recruitment of top-tier talent, and developing talent on the team.
  • You will build processes to implement product vision and strategy, according to organizational goals and priorities.
  • You will build software that is not just high quality, but easy to operate.
  • You will manage technical debt, including long-term technical architecture decisions, and balance product roadmap.

What we look for:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in web frontend development, with a strong preference for React-based applications
  • 2+ years leading and managing a high-performing engineering team.
  • A passion for infrastructure, tooling, developer productivity, or performance optimization and the ability to drive technical initiatives that improve overall team efficiency and code quality
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent at various levels
  • Ability to drive technical initiatives that improve overall team efficiency and code quality
  • Experience in setting and achieving ambitious team goals aligned with company objectives
  • Strong track record of attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent
  • Experience managing distributed teams across multiple locations.

Pay Range Transparency
Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks anticipates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
