Job Title: Sr. Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Developer

Engagement: Contract โ€“ 1 Year

Role Overview

Sr. Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Developer to design and deliver enterprise-grade business intelligence solutions for a customer. This role will gather reporting requirements, build scalable semantic models, and develop high-impact dashboards and reports that translate complex data into clear, actionable insight. The ideal candidate combines expert-level Power BI and DAX skills with hands-on experience across Microsoft Fabric and Databricks, and is comfortable operating independently to deliver production-quality solutions in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather reporting requirements and translate them into effective dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models.
  • Create efficient data models, relationships, calculations, and KPIs using DAX.
  • Use Power Query and SQL to transform, validate, and prepare data for reporting.
  • Integrate Power BI with Microsoft Fabric and Databricks data sources.
  • Optimize report, query, refresh, and semantic-model performance.
  • Implement appropriate data security, including workspace permissions and row-level security.
  • Document report logic, data sources, calculations, refresh processes, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and platform teams to resolve data-quality and reporting issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Expert-level experience with Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service.
  • Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query, semantic modeling, and report design.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, aggregations, common table expressions, and performance optimization.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse or Warehouse, OneLake, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and semantic models.
  • Experience connecting Power BI to Databricks, including Databricks SQL warehouses.
  • Knowledge of data security, governance, access controls, and secure authentication practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder-communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver production-quality solutions within agreed timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AWS data and analytics services, particularly Amazon S3, IAM, AWS Glue, and Amazon Redshift.
  • Experience working with cloud-based lakehouse or data-platform architectures.
  • Familiarity with deployment pipelines, source control, release management, and automated testing.
  • Relevant Microsoft Power BI or Fabric certifications.
  • Previous experience delivering enterprise reporting solutions in a contractor or consulting capacity
