GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Reports to: Security Director
Department: Security
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Status: Full-Time
Position Title: Operations Supervisor Position Status: Essential
Home/Life Services Inc. established in 1995, is a community-based, human services organization committed to improving the economic and social health of families impacted by homelessness. Operating from a client centered perspective, Home/Life provides a safe and therapeutic environment that supports the social and economic independence of its families served. By developing and implementing innovative services and programs within our Families with Children's facilities, we provide case management and job counseling, as well as help our families access the economic housing support that allows them to enter and stay in permanent housing.
Under the direction of the Security Director, The Operations Supervisor oversees the daily operations in the facility within each department; social services, maintenance, and primarily security. The candidate must have a valid NYS Fire Guard Certification (F02), Certificate of Fitness (F80), and First Aid/CPR Certificate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor include but not limited to:
Administrative:
• Ensures daily log, visitor and resident daily and nightly sign-in logs, and other records are maintained in an accurate and timely manner by security staff
• Responsible for the accurate recording and reporting of Security Staff payroll
• Must report a Priority One to Program Director within 30 minutes of incident
• Reporting complaints and or issues to the Security Director immediately
• Responsible for checking in clients, submitting incident reports, and finalizing DHS roster in CARES. Operation staff should only submit reports in CARES after business hours, on holidays, on weekends, or if they are the first to be notified of any incidents.
• Complete end-of-shift roll call reports and email them to the Program Director (PD), Service Director (SD), and Social Services Director (SSD). Operation Supervisors are required to send a roll call at the end of each shift.
Leadership and Staff Development:
• Leads and directs security team in the event of an emergency evacuation
• Ensures Security Guards acquire an understanding of building features and potential problems
• Ensures that security staff actively monitor CCTV system, and immediately report to supervisor activities that violate safety and security protocols, and logs observations
• The ability to train staff on protocols, procedures, and incident reporting
• Makes sure all Security Guards are properly dressed in their uniforms
• Makes sure all Security Guards treat clients and employees with respect
• Supervise residential aide staff and provide monthly supervision.
• Create a monthly schedule outlining the residential aide staff's duties and responsibilities for the month.
Programmatic Achievement:
• Oversees daily operations of each Department to ensure a secure and functional environment for the residents, staff and visitors
• Ensures that fire drills are executed as required
• Ensures that monthly Fire Safety inspections are conducted as necessary
• Ensures that fire drills are executed as required and documents results
• Answer facility phone calls and direct them appropriately.
• Continuously observes all residents and develops the ability to recognize signs of substance abuse, child abuse, and criminal activity and immediately advises the appropriate staff and works with the facility team to conduct investigations, as appropriate
• Ensures that the interior/exterior of building, surrounding perimeter, and client dormitories are monitored by a security guard
• Contact the State Central Registry to report any cases of abuse or maltreatment.
• In the event of an emergency, Essential Employees are required to report to work as scheduled

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Valid Fire Guard Certification (F02) and a Certificate of Fitness (F80) required
• Must be willing and able to be certified in First Aid/CPR
• Three to five (3-5) years of security and management experience preferred
• Must be able to make clear decisions and handle situations fairly under pressure and during stressful situations
• Must be able to interact effectively with the facility staff and client population (verbally and in writing)
• Must be willing and able to remain at post beyond regularly scheduled hours for appropriate relief, if necessary
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as run, lift etc.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
