Job description

Job Summary:
Diamondback Energy is seeking an experienced F5 Administrator to support enterprise application delivery, security, and load balancing across on-prem and cloud environments. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing F5 BIG-IP and F5 Distributed Cloud platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Configure and manage F5 BIG-IP (LTM, APM, WAF/ASM, DNS/GTM) for application delivery and security
• Build and maintain virtual servers, pools, health monitors, and traffic policies
• Develop iRules and automate configurations using Ansible, Terraform, and REST APIs
• Manage SSL/TLS configurations and certificate lifecycle
• Implement and tune WAF, bot defense, and DDoS protection policies
• Support F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) including load balancers, WAAP, and CE node deployments
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot incidents, and support system upgrades and lifecycle management
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams; provide SME guidance and documentation
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of hands-on F5 BIG-IP administration in enterprise environments
• Strong experience with LTM, APM, WAF/ASM, and DNS/GTM
• Experience with F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) or similar cloud-based application delivery platforms
• Proficiency in TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, and Layer 4–7 networking
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, APIs)
• Knowledge of SSL/TLS, PKI, and security best practices
Preferred:
• F5 certifications (F5-CA or F5-CTS)
• Experience with BIG-IQ, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), or Kubernetes integrations
• Familiarity with CI/CD, GitOps, and observability tools
• Experience with multi-cloud networking or modern security architectures (Zero Trust)
• Familiarity with Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC) and VXLAN EVPN overlay networks, including integration considerations for F5 BIG-IP deployments within spine-leaf data center fabrics.
