Job description

SDS is looking for a former Pilot/Weapons System Officer (WSO) to fill a Part-time SME position supporting the Naval Special Warfare JTAC Program.
As a Pilot/Weapons System Officer (WSO) SME at Naval Special Warfare, you will play a critical role in training military personnel to become proficient in the coordination of close air support, artillery and naval gun fire. You will have the unique opportunity to train and mentor the most elite and capable special operations forces (SOF) personnel in the world. You will be responsible for delivering advanced JTAC training that aligns with the specialized requirements of SOCOM units.
Pilot/WSO SME RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Assist with all training of NSW SOF JTAC Operators. Additionally, assist with the development and training of NSW Ground Force Commander's on the utilization, usage, and implementation of CAS assets into SEAL missions.
  • Provide instruction/education to include briefs regarding CAS platforms and weapons capabilities, all domain fires, Over-the-Horizon Targeting, and other NSW mission requirements. Provide scenario-based training curriculum that prepares SOF JTACs and GFCs to execute all domain fires across the spectrum NSW SOF mission sets.

Pilot/WSO SME QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Secret Security Clearance
  • Pilot or Weapons Systems Officer (WSO) experience with no less than 500 hours performing CAS missions and task within the last five years in a tactical aircraft, to include attack helicopters. Background in A-10, F-16, F-15E, AC-130, F-18, F-35, AH-1, AH-64, or other SOF attack aircraft.
  • Knowledge of the USSOCOM M 350-5, Joint Pub 3-09.3, and shall be familiar with CAS operations and TTPs.
  • Experience with combat CAS operations or FAC-A qualified.
