Many pursue additional training or specializations, such as weapons officer or test pilot, which open up avenues in tactical development or aviation program management. Opportunities also exist for pilots to transition into staff roles, higher-level command positions, or instructor positions within the military training pipeline. Additionally, skills and experience gained as an F-16 pilot are highly valued in commercial aviation, defense contracting, and aerospace industries should an individual pursue a civilian career after military service.
