Job description

Extrusion Technician

We are seeking a qualified, experienced Polymer Extrusion Line Technician. You will be a member of our Extrusion Team, responsible for producing polymer compounds for specific applications based on client need. The candidate must have experience in previous extrusion departments of other companies and possess a strong technical and mechanical skill set.

Responsibilities Include:

Technical setup & breakdown of equipment and production line.

Cleaning parts of the production line.

Handling multiple materials.

Operating the production line.

Maintaining records of activities in the form of job reports.

Maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Equipment operation (set-up, changeovers, troubleshooting quality issues, production goals/yields).
  • Assist in setting up/operating extruders and associated production equipment to convert resins into pellets.
  • Closely monitor extrusion function to ensure line is running within required operating conditions.
  • Initiate timely line adjustments to correct quality issues, in accordance with operating procedures and/or troubleshooting manuals.
  • Ensure line is clean/orderly in compliance with daily housekeeping requirements checklists.
  • Properly maintain and care for equipment.
  • Notify Extrusion Production Manager of maintenance issues requiring immediate attention.
  • Comply with plant safety regulations and good manufacturing practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Extrusion Production Manager.

· Perform special projects as requested and related tasks as needed. Successful candidates must be flexible to work both day and night shifts and overtime may be required. (We all work together to do whatever it takes to change the world!)

Skills and Abilities Required:

Minimum 3 years of manufacturing setting and extrusion process experience.

Positive attitude with ability to receive coaching and management instruction.

· Must possess solid problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and team-based skills.

· · Strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance skills.

· Demonstrated experience and knowledge of working with polymer compounding and extrusion operating processes.

· Understanding of basic extrusion line protocols and procedures.

· Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

· Must be computer proficient and have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

· Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.

. Ability to lift 50lbs consistently.

Required Experience:

· Must have previous extrusion process manufacturing setting experience.

Other Requirements:

· Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background investigation and physical exam.

  • English language competency required. Including listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing.

· In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Education:

· High School Diploma or GED

· Technical College/School, or

· Equivalent work experience required.
