What is an externship for a medical assistant?

An externship for a medical assistant is a supervised, hands-on training experience that takes place in a real healthcare setting, such as a clinic, hospital, or doctor's office. It is typically a required component of medical assistant programs and allows students to apply the skills and knowledge they've learned in the classroom to actual patient care. During the externship, students work under the guidance of experienced medical professionals, gaining practical experience in administrative and clinical tasks. This helps them prepare for their future careers and can sometimes lead to job opportunities after completion.
