Job description

Description

Schaumburg Christian School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Extended Care Worker to join our team. As an Extended Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for our elementary students outside of regular school hours. This part-time position involves supervising children during the extended care hours from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, as well as on some non-school days when extended care services are offered.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during extended care hours.
  • Engage students in age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to promote social interaction and creativity.
  • Assist with homework and academic activities as needed.
  • Implement established routines for snacks, playtime, and quiet time.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and school staff regarding student behavior and updates.
  • Enforce school policies and procedures to maintain a positive and respectful environment.
  • Collaborate with other extended care team members to create a cohesive and enjoyable experience for all students.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood education or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience working with elementary-aged children in a childcare or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to handle various situations with patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred (not necessary)
  • Flexibility to work on some non-school days when extended care services are offered.
