Mundo Verde was founded in 2011 as Washington, DC’s first “green” public charter school. Today, Mundo Verde serves over 1,200 students across two campuses. Position Overview: The Extended Day Manager is a dedicated campus leader and member of the Extended Day Team, ensuring the daily Extended Day Program runs safely, consistently, and accurately for students, staff, and families.  Overseeing daily operations from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, this role manages up to 35 staff members (mostly part-time) while guaranteeing consistent classroom coverage and structured transitions throughout the program.  

The manager oversees rosters, documentation, and the daily launch of the program, ensuring structured implementation across staff, students, and partners. They lead weekly professional development, support the planning and implementation of the summer institute, and ensure consistent implementation of program expectations through daily oversight. As the primary contact for teachers and parents, the manager handles family communication with care and precision while guiding restorative practices to support student behavior and well-being. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Extended Day Program Administration
  • Oversee program operations from launch through close, ensuring safe supervision, smooth transitions, accurate dismissal procedures, completion of endofday building sweeps, timely documentation of late pickups, and adherence to established protocols
  • Manage student registrations, schedule changes, and emergency drop-ins; maintain accurate rosters and attendance with monthly audits
  • Respond to registration inquiries, provide enrollment updates, and ensure clear communication with families
  • Secure daily classroom coverage, coordinate substitutes, and monitor staff hours in Paycom for compliance
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager on billing adjustments, assign classroom spaces, coordinate room changes, and align rosters with enrichment partners
  • Make operational changes in response to school-wide events, scheduling shifts, and program needs

• Family Engagement & Student Support
  • Serve as the site-level point of contact for families, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students and caregivers
  • Address family questions and concerns within 24–48 hours, ensuring consistent updates on student participation and program changes 
  • Promote safety, belonging, and positive behavior through proactive support, relationship-building, and restorative practices
  • Communicate student incidents and behavioral concerns promptly, ideally the same day and at pick-up when possible 
  • Partner with the Director of Operations and Front Desk Manager to ensure consistent coverage, safe transitions, smooth dismissal, and program closing.

• Program Quality, Staff Supervision, and Professional Development
  • Manage the daily launch of the Extended Day Program, including staff roll call, student flow, transitions, staffing assignments, and schedule communication.
  • Supervise lead teachers and support staff to ensure strong classroom culture and fidelity to program expectations
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and evaluate staff using established instructional frameworks and tools
  • Monitor implementation of Responsive Classroom, Restorative Justice, classroom expectations, behavior management systems, and program schedules
  • Collaborate with the Extended Programs Director to implement onboarding, weekly professional development, and summer program preparation
  • Support continuous improvement of program quality through classroom observations, coaching, feedback, and implementation of established initiatives

• Compliance and Accountability
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, extended day procedures, and established program expectations 
  • Monitor the timely completion and accuracy of attendance records 
  • Ensure staff adhere to supervision standards/expectations, safety procedures, closing protocols, and behavior management practices 
  • Address operational concerns proactively and partner with Director to implement corrective actions and strengthen program systems 
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with student privacy requirements and organizational policies
  • Ensure timely and accurate incident reporting

• Summer Program Co-Leadership 

In collaboration with the Extended Day Program Director, lead the  implementation and daily operations of the summer program: 

• Co-lead the daily implementation of summer daytime and extended day programming, ensuring safe, organized, and high-quality experiences for students and families
• Coordinate and deliver 2–3 days of summer training focused on program expectations, classroom management, and student engagement.
• Supervise summer staff, support strong classroom culture, and ensure adherence to program expectations. Coordinate staffing assignments and secure coverage across educators, enrichment specialists, and support staff to maintain safe ratios
• Collaborate with curriculum developers, instructional coaches, and the Extended Program Coordinator to ensure curriculum materials, instructional resources, and classroom supplies are prepared and available for implementation  
• Serve as a primary point of contact for families, responding to student, behavioral, and program-related concerns with care and timeliness.
• Plan grade-level field trips, order buses, prepare permission slips, and ensure timely completion of documentation, including incident reports and family communication

• Extended Day and Fieldtrip Oversight
  • Delegate and supervise the Summer Program Coordinator in managing daily Extended Day operations, including staffing, student supervision, family communication, enrollment changes, and dismissal procedures
  • Oversee the Coordinator’s planning of summer fieldtrips, ensuring logistics, documentation, staffing assignments, and safety protocols (including AOM staff) are implemented with fidelity
  • Ensure Extended Day and fieldtrip operations meet established program expectations and safety standards
  • Oversee ordering, organizing, inventory, and distribution of curriculum materials, classroom supplies, and program resources, ensuring timely delivery and accessibility
  • Partner with the Coordinator, Front Desk, Operations Team, and Office Manager to ensure smooth implementation of enrollment, attendance, transportation, dismissal, and logistics
  • Monitor Extended Day expenses and field trip costs and communicate needs to the Director 

• Support Wide Support
  • Attend and actively contribute to Extended Day leadership meetings and planning sessions
  • Support school safety during student transitions and dismissal procedures
  • Conduct formal performance evaluations for assigned staff in alignment with school procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to strengthen program operations and student success

Terms of Employment:  

• Schedule: Full-time, 8-hour workday 
• Location: Cook Campus (30 P St NW, WDC) 
• Supervision: This position has ~35 direct reports (mostly part-time staff)
• Position Type: This is a full-time, 12-month salaried exempt position

Required Qualifications:

• Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Minimum of 1–3 years of professional experience in a school-related field or setting; supervisory experience preferred.
• Classroom or instructional background, preferably in early childhood or elementary education, with the ability to supervise, coach teachers, and coplan professional development. 
• Professional presence and positive communication skills that foster respect, trust, and strong relationships with families. 
• Strong computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, web-based platforms, Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, or other SIS) and capacity to learn school technology (iPods, iPads, two-way radios).
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Administration of Medication (AOM) Training certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in an urban school setting and knowledge of Responsive Classroom practices.
• Solid teaching or instructional background, preferably in early childhood or elementary settings, with the ability to coach teachers, supervise classroom practice, and coplan professional development. 
• Administration of Medication (AOM) Training certification. 
• Full First Aid and crisis prevention training (such as CPR, AED use, trauma response, or active shooter protocols).
