Job description

As a Sales Manager Trainee within the Emerging Entrepreneur Program (EEP) at Express Employment International, you will work in various roles within an Express Employment Professionals franchise office, preparing to become a future leader in the organization.

This program includes classroom, online, and on-the-job training with an assigned mentor franchise office. It focuses on business-to-business sales (both outside and inside), staffing/recruiting, and leadership management. Upon successful completion, you will be equipped to lead, manage, and grow a business within the Express network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in classroom, online, and on-the-job training with an assigned mentor franchise office.
  • Rotate through key roles:
    • Outside Sales (5 months)
    • Inside Sales/Employment Specialist (3 months)
    • Leadership Management

Sales:

  • Prospect new business leads, qualify opportunities, and contact key decision-makers.
  • Make a combination of 100 weekly sales calls (phone and in-person), including 60 face-to-face decision-maker visits.
  • Utilize consultative selling techniques, effective communication, and persistence to achieve sales goals.

Recruiting:

  • Develop skills to identify quality job seekers and guide them through the recruiting process.
  • Create positive candidate experience and build long-term relationships.
  • Learn to use recruiting platforms effectively.

Operations:

  • Gain knowledge of payroll processing, workers’ compensation claims, and accounts receivable management.
  • Understand vendor relationships and systems to maintain operational excellence.
  • Learn policies for temporary, evaluation-to-hire, and direct-hire placements, as well as employment-related laws.

Leadership:

  • Learn how to hire, train, and lead a franchise office team.
  • Develop skills in accountability, performance metrics, and building a culture focused on sales, recruiting, and service.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Ability to perform day-to-day business-to-business sales activities and close new clients.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to grow a business in the staffing industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and coach others.
  • Willingness to relocate within the U.S. or Canada is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience with a proven track record (inside, outside, or B2B sales required). Staffing/recruiting experience preferred.
