Job description

Location: Bloomington, MN

The Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Drug Evaluation Unit is responsible for developing clinical evaluations and key clinical assessments for new therapies, new indications, and utilization management clinical policies on traditional and specialty pharmaceuticals. This pharmacist will support the provision and documentation of accurate and timely drug information requests and will serve as clinical content expert for consulting with various evaluation and approval committees. The Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Drug Evaluation Unit will be responsible for working cross-functionally with other areas within the Institute of Clinical Oversight and Guidance, as well as other Express Scripts/Evernorth departments, including Formulary Solutions, Product Development, Coverage Review Department, and Account Management to develop new clinical strategies and support of clinical initiatives for both the pharmacy and medical benefit. When appropriate, pharmacists will represent Express Scripts at internal and external meetings based are areas of clinical focus and job responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Perform literature search, medical guideline review, and retrieval of other necessary information in order to critically evaluate the safety, efficacy and comparative efficacy analysis of the product.
  • Provide critical appraisal analysis of the literature and other drug information, including those for similar products, to develop and support clinical recommendations.
  • Prepare formal drug evaluation documents (monographs) of new and existing drug products.
  • Develop and maintain clinical content for clinical policies and services (e.g., Prior Authorization, Step Therapy, Formulary Exceptions Policies and other clinical programs).
  • Present clinical information and evaluation at Clinical Committees.
  • Help ensure that clinical coverage policies are accurately reflected in operational application systems.
  • Research, develop, and revise therapy class reviews and other clinical documents in support of the formulary development process.
  • Communicate clinical information to internal/external customers as needed.
  • Serve as a drug information resource including preparation of verbal and written responses to requests for drug information.
  • Provide thought leadership and clinical input.
  • Help strategize for new clinical programs and evaluation of new clinical information

Qualifications

  • Pharm D Degree preferred
  • 3+ years general pharmacy experience preferred
  • Current Pharmacist License.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required
  • Standard Microsoft Office set, advanced research skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations, synthesize data and clinical information through research.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy practice issues and challenges.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 128,600 - 214,300 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
