What is an Express Js job?

An Express.js job typically involves developing server-side applications using the Express.js framework, which is built on top of Node.js. Developers in this role design APIs, manage middleware, handle routing, and interact with databases to build web applications. They are responsible for optimizing performance, ensuring security, and integrating third-party services. Express.js developers often work closely with front-end teams to create seamless web experiences.

Is Express JS in demand?

Express JS is a popular framework for building server-side applications with Node.js, and there is consistent demand for developers skilled in it due to its widespread use in web development. Companies often seek developers familiar with JavaScript, REST APIs, and middleware to create scalable backend services.

What are common daily tasks and responsibilities for an Express.js Developer?

As an Express.js Developer, your daily tasks typically include designing, building, and maintaining server-side applications and APIs using the Express.js framework. You will collaborate with front-end developers to integrate UI components, write and test code, troubleshoot bugs, and optimize application performance. Regular responsibilities often involve participating in code reviews, updating documentation, managing databases, and working with DevOps teams to deploy new features or updates. The role requires strong teamwork and communication, as you'll frequently interact with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Is express.js a language?

Express.js is a web application framework for Node.js, which is a JavaScript runtime environment. It is not a programming language itself but a tool used by developers to build server-side applications using JavaScript. Knowledge of JavaScript is essential for working with Express.js in a development role.

What jobs can I get with JavaScript?

Jobs that require JavaScript include front-end developer, back-end developer, full-stack developer, and web application developer. These roles often involve working with frameworks like React, Angular, or Node.js and may require knowledge of HTML, CSS, and server-side programming. JavaScript skills are essential for building interactive websites and web-based applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Express Js position, and why are they important?

To excel as an Express.js Developer, you should have strong proficiency in JavaScript, backend development, and RESTful API design, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with Node.js, version control systems like Git, and cloud deployment tools is highly beneficial, with some employers valuing certifications in JavaScript or Node.js frameworks. Outstanding problem-solving skills, effective communication, and teamwork make candidates stand out in collaborative development settings. These abilities are crucial for building scalable applications, maintaining code quality, and driving successful project deliveries.

What can I do with Express JS?

A developer working with Express JS can build server-side web applications and APIs using Node.js. It provides a minimal, flexible framework for handling routing, middleware, and request-response cycles, enabling efficient development of scalable backend services. Knowledge of JavaScript and related tools like npm is essential for effective use.

Full Stack Engineer -- Payments & ACH (AI-Native)

Job description

Why this role is different

Most full stack roles treat payments as a feature. Here it is the product. We run a high-volume ACH and reconciliation engine in one of the most compliance-sensitive corners of U.S. financial services โ€” debits, credits, retries, virtual-account ledgering, and the messy reality of what happens when money does not move on the first try.

And we build it differently. We are AI-native by design โ€” a small team shipping infrastructure-grade payments software at a velocity that should take 3ร— the headcount. Claude Code, Cursor, and agentic workflows are not perks here; they are how the work gets done. You will spend less time typing boilerplate and more time doing the thing that actually matters in payments: deciding what is correct, what is safe, and what happens when it fails.

We are past product-market fit: deep domain expertise, enterprise clients going live, and a founding team that has shipped payments infrastructure before.

We want engineers who pair real payments depth with real AI-tooling fluency โ€” people who already know what NACHA return codes mean and know how to drive an agent through a reconciliation refactor without shipping a silent ledger bug.

How we work
  • Agents are part of the team. You drive Claude Code / Cursor daily โ€” scaffolding services, writing tests, refactoring, exploring unfamiliar code. You are judged on shipped, correct outcomes, not keystrokes.

  • You write for agents, not just humans. Clear agents.md, tight specs, and well-scoped tasks are how you get leverage. Ambiguous instructions produce ambiguous code โ€” in payments that is a defect.

  • Evals and guardrails over vibes. AI-generated code moving money gets the same treatment as anything else: idempotency, audit logging, test coverage, and evals that catch regressions before prod does.

  • Taste is the bottleneck. When the model can write the code, the differentiator is knowing what good looks like โ€” schema design, failure modes, API contracts, observability. That judgment is the job.

What you will own

As a full stack engineer who lives on the backend, with an agent open in the next pane.

  • ACH workflows end-to-end โ€” origination, debits/credits, returns and retries, failure handling, virtual-account ledgering, and reconciliation

  • Production backend services and REST APIs โ€” versioned, contract-stable, hardened

  • Event-driven architecture โ€” AWS SQS, webhooks, retry and failure logic for reliable async processing

  • PostgreSQL schemas that hold financial integrity under failure

  • AI-assisted delivery โ€” agents.md, eval sets, and tooling that make agentic development safe in a regulated domain

  • CI/CD and test coverage that lets the team (and the agents) ship with confidence

  • Internal React dashboards and ops tooling โ€” often AI-scaffolded, always reviewed

  • Design docs, run-books, and scalability notes โ€” written because you are proud of the work

  • Customer-facing work when it counts โ€” supporting integrations, troubleshooting live workflows, representing the product outside the codebase
