Job description

Main Purpose of Role:

Primarily responsible for pricing to internal and external customers exporting from the United States and Canada to Latin America destinations. Pricing, monitoring market trends and customer performance.


Main Tasks:

  • Handle the rate box and respond to rate requests in a timely manner to keep internal KPIs.
  • Manage requests in L2A and respond according to internal KPI’s and rate guidelines.
  • Interact with Sales/customers in order to understand market trends and propose updated pricing strategies.
  • Evaluate pricing inquiries and provide quotes according to commodities, volume, destination and other factors that influence rates.
  • Prepare quarterly rate schedules and update the tariff system.
  • Interact with Sales and GAC in the service contract filing process: preparing DTLI’s, getting approval of free time and evaluating rate extensions. Communicate in a timely manner to ensure that contract filings are completed promptly and accurately.
  • Weekly completion and distribution of short freight recaps, compiling annual year to date data
  • Analyze short freight recaps to monitor trends among multiple vessels
  • Monitor “model vessel” on NOR
  • Perform monthly NOR analysis
  • Review, researching and responding to emails and formal correspondence from account owners and customers


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university;
  • 1-4 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in trade pricing positions or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Transportation experience with steamship tariffs and service contracts as well as a familiarity with the US to Latin America trade is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Statistics and Analytics, advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Power Point (a plus).
