Drive Growth and Build Lasting Client Relationships in the Trade Show Industry
Are you ready to generate new business opportunities and build long-term partnerships? The Expo Group is seeking a Business Development Director to identify, cultivate, and close new sales opportunities while nurturing incoming leads through the sales pipeline. Based remotely, this role plays a key part in driving revenue growth and strengthening client relationships by delivering exceptional solutions in the events industry.
In this role, you will:
  • Identify and secure new trade show contracting opportunities to drive revenue growth.
  • Represent The Expo Group to show management, association executives, exhibitors, and other stakeholders, creating goodwill and securing new business.
  • Prospect for clients by developing targeted solicitation plans for key accounts, including venues, hotels, associations, and corporations with trade show events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless client communication and exceed client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, presentations, and follow-ups.
  • Partner with the Creative, Marketing, and other teams to prepare RFP responses, craft proposals, and deliver presentations to potential clients.
  • Negotiate and secure contracts alongside senior sales staff to formalize new business.
  • Attend industry events to stay informed on trends and competitors.
What You Bring to The Expo Group:
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 3+ years of proven sales experience, ideally in trade show, events, or the hospitality industry.
  • Credentials: None required, though relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Key Skills: Consultative selling skills, executive presence, strong communication abilities, financial acumen, ability to build relationships, and proficiency with sales technology (Excel, Outlook, CRM tools).
