Job Summary: We are seeking an Explosive Engineering Tech II to support ordnance testing at NSWC Crane. The successful candidate will work across test setup, fixture/jig fabrication, material handling, and ordnance record-keeping to support test and repackaging operations. Essential Functions: * Assist in setting up and conducting various tests on a variety of ordnance material to determine effectiveness under specific conditions in accordance with established safety practices and procedures.
  • Assist in the layout and fabrication of small ordnance parts, jigs and fixtures, and other related ordnance test activities in accordance with established safety practices and procedures
  • Performs visual examination of ordnance material in accordance with standard operating procedures and other required documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining ordnance test records as required.
  • Assist in off-load and on load material from trucks using forklifts, manual and mechanized pallet jacks.
  • Assist in receiving, segregating, and/or storing ordnance material in accordance with established safety practices and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining storage areas in accordance with established safety specifications, requirements, and practices.
Other duties as assigned. Experience and Skills: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ordnance handling experience preferred.
  • Material Handling Equipment (forklift, hand truck, overhead crane, etc.) experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination prior to start.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and is subject to random drug screening.
  • Obtain Explosive Certification within 6 months of appointment.
Possess a valid state driver's license. Desired Qualifications: Highly proficient in record keeping abilities using Microsoft Office and/or web-based shipping programs.
  • Ability to write and/or make changes to work instructions and procedures.
  • Must follow all safety rules and company policies.
  • Must be able to safely move up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to cope with dynamic high-pressure environments and short-fused or rapidly changing deadlines and prioritization.
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills to work with clients, team members, and management staff, including both DoD civilian, uniformed military, and contractor personnel.
Analytical problem solver with a high attention to detail. Must be organized and process oriented. Travel: Minimal. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
