Explainable Ai information

What is Explainable AI?

Explainable AI (XAI) refers to methods and techniques in artificial intelligence that make the results of AI models understandable and interpretable by humans. XAI aims to provide transparency into how AI systems make decisions, helping users trust and effectively manage AI applications. This is especially important in fields like healthcare, finance, and law, where understanding the reasoning behind AI-driven outcomes can be crucial for accountability and compliance. By making AI more transparent, XAI also helps identify and address biases or errors in AI systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Explainable AI specialist?

To thrive as an Explainable AI specialist, you need a strong background in machine learning, data science, and statistics, typically with an advanced degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and libraries like LIME or SHAP, as well as experience in model interpretability tools, is essential. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders are crucial soft skills. These capabilities ensure that AI models are transparent, trustworthy, and can be responsibly integrated into decision-making processes.

What are some of the typical challenges faced when working in Explainable AI and how do professionals address them?

Professionals in Explainable AI often encounter challenges such as balancing model accuracy with interpretability, translating complex model outputs into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders, and ensuring transparency without compromising sensitive data. Addressing these issues typically involves using specialized tools and frameworks for visualization, collaborating closely with data scientists, domain experts, and business teams, and staying updated on the latest research in model interpretability. Continuous learning and open communication are key to overcoming these challenges and delivering AI solutions that are both effective and trustworthy.

What is the difference between Explainable Ai vs Data Scientist?

AspectExplainable AiData Scientist
CredentialsTypically requires knowledge of AI, machine learning, and data analysis; certifications like AI or ML courses are commonRequires degrees in computer science, statistics, or related fields; certifications in data analysis or machine learning are beneficial

Director, Network Products

Employee, Full-Time Renton, WA, US

30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1400

Salary Range: $150,000.00 To $180,000.00 Annually

Virtuoso® is the leading global travel agency network specializing in luxury and experiential travel. This by-invitation-only organization comprises over 1,200 travel agency locations with more than 20,000 travel advisors in 58 countries throughout North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. Drawing upon its preferred relationships with 2,500 of the world’s best hotels and resorts, cruise lines, airlines, tour companies and premier destinations, the network provides its upscale clientele with exclusive amenities, rare experiences and privileged access. Annual sales of (U.S.) $35 billion make Virtuoso a powerhouse in the luxury travel industry. For more information, visit www.virtuoso.com.

The Director, Network Products serves as the voice of Virtuoso’s supplier Partners within the product organization and across the company. This role is responsible for ensuring Partner needs, perspectives, and commercial realities are deeply understood, clearly represented, and translated into product strategy, AI capabilities, and sales enablement outcomes that drive measurable value.

This leader owns the Partner Product portfolio across all verticals—Hotels & Alliances, Cruise & Destinations, UHNW & Air, and Technology Products—and is accountable for how Partners show up, are represented, and create value within Virtuoso’s platforms, tools, and emerging agentic capabilities.

The Director partners closely with Global Partner Relations (GPR) and Regional General Managers to ensure Partner-facing products, analytics, and AI insights enable GPR teams to clearly demonstrate ROI, performance, and the value of Virtuoso membership in every Partner conversation.

The role leads a team of Product Managers aligned by Partner vertical, providing strategic direction, prioritization, and coaching while ensuring consistent product standards and a cohesive Partner narrative across the network.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Voice of Partners & Commercial Advocacy
  • Act as the primary advocate and representative of Partner needs within Product, Technology, and cross‑functional leadership forums.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Partner business models, success metrics, and growth priorities across verticals and regions.
  • Translate Partner insights into clear product strategies, AI use cases, and enablement narratives that resonate commercially.
  • Ensure Partner feedback informs not only feature decisions, but how Virtuoso innovates to optimize a high value sales channel.
  • Sales Enablement & ROI Storytelling
  • Partner closely with Global Partner Relations (GPR) to enable sales and account teams with:
  • AI‑driven insights that support growth conversations
  • Ensure Partner products and AI outputs support credible, explainable, and repeatable sales enablement use cases.
  • Define and evolve Partner‑facing metrics, insights, and artifacts that help GPR teams demonstrate:
  • Network reach and relevance
  • Commercial impact
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Events, and Commercial teams to align messaging and enablement around Partner value.
  • AI Capabilities & Agentic Use Cases
  • Own how Partners are represented, surfaced, and activated in a digital and agentic experience.
  • Define the AI prompts, workflows, and intelligence surfaces available to Partners to help them:
  • Identify growth opportunities
  • Understand network dynamics
  • Engage the right advisors, programs, or moments
  • Ensure AI‑driven Partner insights are:
  • Grounded in real Partner needs
  • Explainable and trusted
  • Designed to support decision‑making, not black‑box outputs
  • Partner with Engineering and Data teams to ensure AI capabilities are practical, scalable, secure, and commercially meaningful.
  • Own the global strategy, roadmap, and prioritization for all Partner products across verticals.
  • Balance global consistency with regional nuance by working closely with Regional GMs and Partner leaders.
  • Make clear tradeoffs across Partner verticals, ensuring investment aligns with network strategy and commercial impact.
  • Lead and develop a team of Product Managers aligned by Partner vertical:
  • Hotels & Alliances
  • Cruise & Destinations
  • UHNW & Air
  • Set clear expectations around:
  • Outcome‑based product thinking
  • Coach PMs to operate as business and sales‑aware product leaders, not just feature owners.
  • Champion strong product practices while maintaining a sharp focus on Partner value and impact.
  • Cross‑Functional & Regional Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary Product partner to GPR, Regional GMs, Engineering, Marketing, Events, and Data teams.
  • Communicate Partner product strategy, priorities, and insights clearly to senior leadership.
  • Ensure Partner perspectives are reflected in platform, AI, and ecosystem‑level decisions.

Educational and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in product management or related roles with significant B2B or supplier‑facing responsibility
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience managing Product Managers
  • Demonstrated experience supporting sales enablement, value articulation, or commercial strategy through product
  • Hands‑on experience shaping or activating AI‑driven capabilities in customer or partner workflows
  • Strong understanding of partner ecosystems, marketplaces, or network‑based business models
  • Experience operating in global, matrixed organizations
  • Travel industry or adjacent ecosystem experience strongly preferred
  • Leadership & Professional Attributes
    • Trusted advocate who can credibly represent Partner interests internally
    • Commercially minded product leader who understands how products support growth conversations
    • Strategic thinker capable of managing a multi vertical portfolio
    • Strong collaborator and influencer across regions and functions
    • Clear, confident communicator with executive presence
    • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping new AI enabled paradigms

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel required approximately 10-15% of the time.
  • Travel will primarily domestic but may include some international.

Type/Nature of Contacts:

  • External: There is almost no contact outside of Virtuoso staff. Position is primarily internal facing.
  • Internal: Daily contact with Virtuoso staff.

We offer a competitive salary and full benefits package, including medical/dental/vision/life, 401(k) savings plan, and more. Virtuoso is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to promoting a diverse workforce.

Pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
