Job Description:
Dietary Manager
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Dietary Department, its programs and activities within approved budget and quality standards. The Dietary Manager ensures that all written dietary policies, procedures, and manuals are adhered to, maintained and updated.
The Dietary Manager maintains compliance with state and federal regulations in preparation for state survey. The Dietary Manager prepares recommendations to the Administrator concerning department operations. Fosters and maintains inter-departmental communication and cooperation to ensure that any reported concerns are addressed and corrected.
The Dietary Manager develops the organizational structure, staffing and direction within policy and budgetary guidelines. Responsibly exercises authority to take necessary personnel actions for department personnel including actions impacting employment such as hire, evaluations, work assignments and schedules. The Dietary Manager assists in departmental conflict resolution and makes recommendations for discipline. Also participates in continuing education and empowerment of employees as well as makes recommendations for promotion and transfers within branches of Apple Rehab.
Qualifications:
  • Must hold one of the following: CDM Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Service Manager, certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body, or an Associates Degree or higher in food service management or hospitality from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification
  • Ability to read, write and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure and record data.
  • Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct others.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
  • Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks
