Built on a proprietary, closed-loop platform, PNE's high-performing technologies span multiple high-growth materials businesses, including Rejuvenation (Cathode-to-Cathode direct recycling), Advanced Black Mass production, Upcycled CAM and more - strengthening the domestic battery supply chain and supporting U.S. energy independence and national security priorities.


We are seeking an accomplished and self-motivated Research Engineer - Plasma Equipmentto join our R&D team. The successful candidate will work closely with the scientific andtechnicalteam on thedesign and operations of our next-generation plasma experimentsfor materials processing. This role will take primary responsibility for conductingplasma experimentsandrequiresadvanced knowledge of plasma physics, a strong problem-solving mindset, and a collaborative approach to overcoming technical challenges.


WHAT WILLYOUBE WORKING ON

  • Designand prepare experimental test plans andprocedureson thePNE plasma devices under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), ensuring alignment with R&D project objectives
  • Operate plasma devices and systems to carry out experimental campaigns
  • Develop and validate technical specifications to meet project requirements
  • Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data and results toguideengineeringupgrades,access thestrengths and weaknesses ofvarioustechnical solutions,andtroubleshoot challenges in plasma performance
  • Develop and update operating procedures and safety plans as required by experimental protocols
  • Prepare and present research findings through written reports, briefings, and progress reports for PI
  • Write periodic progress reports to document experimental milestones and insights
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant technical literature and advancements in plasma physics and related fields
  • Perform other duties as assigned, actively contributing to the success of the R&D team


OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE IS SOMEONE WITH

  • Ph.D. in plasma physics or a related field, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on research experience with plasma physics experiments and equipment diagnostics
  • Familiar to plasmasystems as well as compliance and safety protocols
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, explain complex technical information clearly, and provide insights to PI
  • Proficiencywithdata analysis software and statistical methods
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team


Physical Requirements

  • This is an on-site position in Monmouth Junction, NJ
  • Able to work in the lab environment and wear personal protective equipment, including lab coat, safety goggles, gloves, and/or mask, and respirator as required
  • Able to lift & carry 25 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Has visual inspection capability to assess lab equipment
