Senior Tax Accountant

Senior Tax Accountant

What you'll do

  • Own the technical review of intermediate and complex tax returns across C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships, Individuals, Trusts, and Non-Profits.

  • Lead corporate and personal tax planning engagements, identifying strategic savings opportunities and deepening long-term advisory relationships.

  • Review ancillary compliance filings, including 1099s, sales tax returns, business property statements, and local business licenses.

  • Plan and execute compilation and review engagements, including workpaper sign-off and financial statement preparation.

  • Manage engagement workflow, client control lists, and filing deadlines to ensure on-time delivery across the department.

  • Mentor staff accountants through real-time feedback and internal technical training sessions, raising team-wide capability.

  • Represent the firm in client meetings, prospective client onboarding, and recruiting events to support firm growth.

  • Support firm operational efficiency by leveraging software tools, developing macros, and testing new technology workflows.

What you need

  • Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation (equivalent years of progressive experience and specialized continuing education considered in lieu).

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • Technical familiarity with multi-state returns, entity formations/dissolutions, Section 1031 exchanges, foreign income reporting, retirement plans, and specialized tax credits.

  • Proficiency with industry tax and accounting software (e.g., CCH Axcess Tax, CCH Engagement, QuickBooks, Checkpoint, CFS, AME).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of staff coaching and client interaction.

  • Flexibility to work expanded hours (55+ per week) during peak tax deadlines.

Nice to have

  • Experience with foreign income reporting (FBAR/FATCA) or retirement plan compliance.

  • Familiarity with entity formations and dissolutions, specialized tax credits, or non-profit filings.

  • Ability to build Excel templates/macros or evaluate new technology workflows.

  • Prior involvement in firm recruiting or professional community outreach.

Pay & benefits

  • Base salary: $85,000-$110,000 per year depending on experience.

  • Health & wellness: 100% employer-paid PPO health, dental, and vision insurance for the employee, plus HSA/FSA pre-tax options.

  • Financial security: 401(k) plan with company match, 100% firm-paid Long-Term Disability (LTD), and firm-paid Life/AD&D coverage (1x base salary up to $100,000).

  • PTO: 160 hours (4 weeks) accrued starting from day one.
